My wife started on 11 sessions of Taxotere, accompanied by Xeloda. After the Tax finished she was on Xeloda alone for a while.
After the xeloda she was put on Femara, but that only lasted three months as it did not work and her markers went up.
She is now on FEC, her second one just passed.
Any idea´s out there if there is anything left after the FEC ?
Thanks in advance.
People keep saying that there are lost of chemo drugs and combinations to try. I understand that after an appropriate gap some chemos can be used more than once. I suggest you ask your oncologist about this - something I intend to do when I see mine in a couple of weeks, Geraldine
terry did xeloda work for your wife ?

Hi Tracy,
Yes the Xeloda worked very well. Her liver cancer was stable for well over a year, in fact about 20 months. She came off it as it stopped working and went on to femara which didn´t work.
Thanks hopege, yes I will ask next visit.

The platinum drugs may be ones that your wife may move on to - carboplatin is one, cisplatin another.
The doctors might also try aromasin (also known as exemestane), another one of the hormone drugs. It works for about one third of people who have not benefitted from arimidex/femara. In the states there seem to be a number of women on ixempra/ixebepilone - don’t know if and when it is going to be available here.
