what does thickening of the nodes mean??

I have been posting today about what happened at the breast clinic today, but as I go over it in my mind I realise that I was in such a tizz about having a biopsy that I did not ask a question I would have done if I was in my right mind. What do you mean by a thickening on one side of the node??

I had two core biopsies on what they thought is a cyste and a needle biopsy under my arm for the thickened node. i have tried googling this term but come up with nothing. Is it just another way of saying the nodes have abnormallities?? In my mind they talk about lumps normally, so is this just a euphamism??

its just another way of saying enlarged node… nodes can be enlarged for a number of reasons… i had a suspicious node when i was diagnosed the first time and had an FNA of it but it came back benign.

fingers crossed for you xx

I had a core biopsy at the breast clinic prior to diagnosis. During the ultra sound scan there was a lot of deliberation about whether or not there was something showing that could have been node involvement so they carried out a fine needle biopsy. At my pre-op assessment at the hospital a week later someone who seemed to be more expert in ultra sound scanning had another look. Her opinion was that what they were looking at was fatty tissue. Ultimately my sentinel node biopsy showed that there was indeed no node involvement.

I’m not sure if that helps but I suppose it is a possibility.

please dont google , you will scare yourself silly write down your unanswered questions, everything you now wish you had asked, give the breast unit a ring and see if they can ease your worries, and when you go back for your results take your list of questions with you . in the mean time , resist the temptation to google, some of the people who put things on there i am sure put things on for maximum scare impact, fingers crossed its nothing to worry about xx
