What happens at an appointment?

Hi,

I’m 20 and have found 2 lumps - one in my armpit and the other in my breast so I have an appt on Tuesday. Brca 2 also runs in the family so I am very nervous.

Wat happens at an initial GP appt? I was abused as a child so this is causing me so much anxiety and I can’t find anywhere what actually happens…

Sorry to hear you have found lumps but please don’t worry about your GP appointment.  You can ask for someone else to be present at your appointment ie  a practice nurse.  At my appointment I was examined by a female doctor and then referred to the hospital for a mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy which all happened within two weeks.   I believe 80 percent of lumps turn out not to be cancer but you are doing absolutely the right thing getting them checked out.
