Hi all. Sorry I may sound a bit thick here but what exactly does thickening of the breast feel like? I have 2 pea sized lumps and one slightly bigger in my right breast. Saw docs on Monday and he said its probably hormonal changes and to wait until after my next period and check to see if they are still there. Since Monday eve I’ve had pain in my breast. I put it down to the prodding and poking llol
Today I have noticed an area on the top of my breast which is firm. Not like a lump but not sure how to describe it. Comparing it to my other boob it is completely different. My other boob is soft and squidgy lol but this one is hard to the touch. It’s not right on the surface and not visible but it is definitely there.
Do you think I should go back to docs? Or do what he said and wait for my next period? Saying that, I only had a period last week so not sure why I have to wait for another one. I found the first lump before I had my last period.
so back to my question. Can anyone describe thickening of the breast to me? Thanks x
Hi, Can’t describe thickening for you, as I never had it, but I agree with you when you wonder why you have to wait for another period. Did you tell the doctor that you felt the lump before your last peroid? If I were you, I’d go back to the docs and if necessary, ask to be referred to the breast clinic. You need to have your mind put at rest at the very least. Hoping you get a referral next time you see the doctor, possibly a different one. Sending positive thoughts and big hugs your way.

Hi poemsgalore thank you for responding. I did tell him so found the lump before last period but hto obviously doesn’t think it’s serious. I am going to wait a little bit longer to see if anything changes. I don’t think I can wait a month tho so maybe just a week. I will definately see another doctor tho. In your opinion would you suggest male or female doc? Are women more sympathetic? Thanks x
Hi
working in the nursing pro they should all treat you sympathetically! But go back and insist on a screening! Mighty be nothing and at least that would put your mind at rest!
I learnt from having BC is not to put anything off!
Best wishes

I can only go on my own experience with doctors. My GP is a woman, but I have been examined by male doctors in the past. As NOENO (sorry, but I had to shorten it) said, they should ALL treat you sympathetically and respectfully.
Good Luck, Poemsgalore xx
