I’ve finished my two weeks of MLD,following a low level infection in my hand in the summer, which I quite enjoyed in the end. Nice therapist. I shall miss our daily chats! She also taught me how to do the kinesio tape myself. However, despite MLD, taping, sleeve and glove, my hand still aches and feels stiff. The measurements show that it is now the same size as the other hand so no swelling. Beginning to think that I will just have to learn to live with it. All a little frustrating.

Glad to hear that you eventually enjoyed the MLD and are coping with the sleeve and glove.
This could be totally of no use to you whatsoever but it helped me. Prior to LD I developed problems with one hand i.e. pain and stiffness bought about by a combination of arthritis and overuse cutting fabric for a patchwork and quilting hobby. I was referred to a physiotharapist who showed me exercices which only had a limited effect, so like you I resigned myself to living with the problem.
Then I developed LD and following advice from this site I started doing the exercices for LD from The Haven. By some strange coincidence these, which include clenching the hands with the movements, have resolved my hand problem. I repeat I have no explanation here just that it worked for me.(I always wear my sleeve when I do the routine)

Sorry you still have the pain. Am glad the swelling has gone down though. AS you still have pain is there no way you can have more MLD?

Thanks Midge and Andie, for your comments. That’s interesting what you’ve said Andie. I do have The Haven DVD so I might watch it again. I suppose it may also be something different to lymphoma. Hard to know really. I think the tape does help a bit so I will carry on with that and the glove/sleeve combo.
I would love to do more MLD but, I’m not sure what effect it would have. Would it make any more difference? Also, it’s £100 a go. And BUPA only agreed to cover two weeks!

It might be worth you making further enquiries about MLD. I see a lady privately once a month just to keep things under control and it costs me much less than you have been quoted.
