Hello,
I have reciently had a mastectomy for invasive lobular breast cancer, unfortunately the results show it is in my removed lymph nodes, the surgeon said I would see an oncologist within two weeks re chemo, radiotherapy and hormone treatment but I just wondered what atually happens at the appointment. I have had pain in my back, but mainly my left thigh for some time do you think they will do an x ray or scan ? Needless to say I am worried…
The Oncologists are brilliant as I have had another unrelated cancer before. They explained all the treatments and options. Your will be looked after by the team and they have a Nurse Specialist who will also help. They may do a scan to know what they are dealing with and the best course of action. I would advise that you write down any questions you have before your appointment as you won’t remember them on the day.
Hope all goes well for you. Xx
I was full of anxiety before the results but the moment I knew what I was dealing with I calmed down. With your onc you are going to have your plan set. Probably chemo first and then radiotherapy and hormone tablets maybe
I had also invasive lobular bc 1,5 cm and 7 out of 17 nodes positive- had a mastectomy too and node clearance and now I m in weekly dose of taxol for 12 weeks - tomorrow I m having #3- wishes for the best and bellasmum was right - write all your questions before the appointment
As for the scan, didn’t you had scans before surgery? I had breast mri, bone scan and CT of liver lungs kindey uterus ovaries etc and brain- if you didn’t maybe you have to do it before starting chemo
