What re balance op is best?

I was diagnosed 2 years ago had WLE + additional lymph node removal, chemo and rads with has now left an inbalance in my breasts. My PS was not very helpful but the BC nurse was a lot more sympathetic and run through the options of the balance op with me, other then the reduction offered by my PS. I feel an implant would be best for me, less invasive and would get me up and about a lot quicker, BUT I have been told that as I have had Rads this could affect the implant, has anybody in the same position had implant, has it matched your good breast? have you had any problems with it becoming hard? I do not feel that I want a large amount of muscle removed from my back as I am exceptionally active, with 4 dogs and 4 horses to excercise, but just do not feel confident or attractive with my undersized chicken fillet. The PS has thrown the options open to me to decide, please help and let me have your comment/ experiences. Confused.com!

Hi
I have had similar treatment and now just finished radiotherapy a couple of weeks ago. I am also considering a reconstruction and came across an interesting article in the Telegraph about a group in Kettering called Breast Reconstruction Awareness (BRA). They made some very useful comments in the article. telegraph.co.uk/health/women_shealth/7750508/Breast-Reconstruction-Surgery-After-the-op-a-new-kind-of-support.html
I did think it might be useful to set up a similar group in my area (London) so that we could all talk to and support each other.
Good luck with the decision making - it is not an easy one.

Hi highlandlady50

BCC have produced a booklet on reconstruction which you may find useful to read. It contains information on the different types of reconstruction available and which ones may suitable. If you would like a copy of this just follow the link below:-

I hope this helpful.
