Hi AJ
Must admit I am a bit annoyed with myself for panicing and getting the nhs one, they are strapped enough without wasting money on my wig. This time I am going to wait, it’s a free consultation so nothing to lose. Was going to get my hair cut but im going to leave it long it will be traumatic either way. Hubby said I wouldn’t like it if they cut a few inches off so I might as well leave it for now.
My back feels ok thought it might hurt but haven’t needed painkillers, and the fluid doesn’t seem to be building up as fast. Hopefully the stitches will be ok, as the consultant said there wasn’t really any spare skin to play with after my op.
Very quiet without the boys it’s been so hectic the last few weeks, I didn’t really realise just how long they will be away. They are just such a big part of your life, but they really need this break and normal time with their Grandparents.
Are you all ready for your hols yet?
Wish I could come : )

Hi Ladies
Well, I’m 5.6" in and a size 12 with bobbed Chestnut Red Hair (mine went gray at 16 so have been dyeing it the same colour ever since!)
As I said before you all sound lovely, wish we could send photos, it was lovely to see Lisa’s picture on her interview.
I’m going to slow down on Thursday my 43rd birthday but at the moment do the hectic washing and ironing for my hols.
AJ - Have a lovely holiday - you deserve it!
Ann - Glad they have managed to do something with your back and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it heals quickly.
Erin – Welcome to our happy thread!! Sorry that you have be here at all! When is your op? I will keep my fingers crossed that all goes well for you.
Hope everyone else is OK, sending you all big hugs and happy thoughts
Sarah-Jane
Hi All
Just got back from the BC clinic with the results of my WLE & node sampling.
GOOD NEWS - 17 nodes taken & NONE showing cancer so won’t have to have chemo!!!
The tumour was 3cm with clearance on 3 sides but pre-cancer on 1 side so may need to have another WLE. They are checking with path dept apparently, but will know on Friday about that and not really worried as the 1st WLE was fine (only the nodes were a bu**er). If OK will just have to have 5/6 weeks of rads and Arimidex for 5 years.
I am soooooooooo suprised - I had a list of things to ask the surgeon about the chemo treatment - which I was sure I would need - that I completely forgot to ask anything else but luckily hubby asked the ones I wanted to know - like spread and outcome etc.
I don’t feel as if they have taken another line of defence away by not offering me chemo (like some ladies on here do) as I trust them when they say no nodes so rads & Arimidex will be enough. Also the type I have is a slow growing one apparently so not sure if chemo (which attacks fast growing cells) would be as good for me.
Anyway - enough about me - just needed to share my good news and thank you for your good wishes - I hope you all get your good news soon too.
Love Jo xx
Hi Jo
I am so pleased for you that’s great news, was thinking about you today. As long as they get out the pre-cancer you should be back to normal in no time. Having no node involvement is really good news as once it’s out you know it hasn’t gone anywhere else.
Am off for an early night as feeling very sore today.
Let us know how you get on on Friday.
Take care.
Love
Ann

Hi Ladies,
Jo that is fantastic news hunny. My surgeon had said that a WLE with good clearance and rads is as beneficial as chemo so fingers crossed the path comes back in your favour.
AJ - have a wonderful holiday as I’ve already said and relax and chill and let the rest of your gang look after you for a while. Talk to you in a week or so
Sarah-Jane - about time you slowed down, mind you that’s rich coming from me. Take it easy and enjoy your birthday hunny, I hope you get spoilt rotten.
Bridie - hope things are OK with you. Any craic?
Ann - take the time without the boys to get some R&R and take it easy to let your back settle and fingers crossed you will get started on chemo asap.
Erin - how are you hunny? Did you say when you are having your op? As you can see we have ladies on this thread who have had WLE and full mastctomies so there will always be someone on here to talk to about it. I hope you are well.
Sarah - how are you girl? We haven’t seen you for a wee while.
Sal - did OH get his car sorted yet? You feeling better yet, I am feeling pretty much like my old self these days, day 15 today so only another week to go.
Sorry if I have missed anybody.
As I said I am at day 15 today so had to get my bloods done, and despite the fact that I am feeling great my neutrophyls are low so I am now on 5 days of AB’s, great. I suppose after the next one I should hide away from everyone around day 10 onwards, not good. Other than that I have nothing to report. My hair is still hanging in there only if I give a good tug does any excess come out so trying not to do that. I have been invited to a wedding on 16th Aug, it is in Donegal which is about 1.5 hrs away and it is around day 8 after number 3, if things go on shedule, so not sure if I should go. OH doesn’t know if he can get the time off work and I don’t think I should go on my own as the wedding is miles away too. And then there’s the appearance I already look like a heffalump as it is, doubt my skull and roses dress will fit by then and if the hair goes what do I wear LOL. Sorry not down about it but these are the questions running through my head.
Hope you are all well
Love and hugs
Lisa

Wow…busy on here since last time. I think my router’s on the way out as I keep dropping my connection so I’ve had trouble posting…but I’ve been thinking about you all even if I haven’t said very much.
Well I had a laugh reading all the perceived visions of everyone here…just to put you straight I’m 5’8 and have sadly succumbed to size 14 of late; dark (dyed) but highlighted shoulder length hair and eyes of a weird green-brown (and sometimes bloodshot…) combination. Possibly smartly dressed for work, unless I’m on a site visit in which case it’s more like CSI (the real ones, not the TV ones…) in a paper suit, safety boots and hard hat!! Otherwise, mostly found in jeans and T shirt (or bike leathers…).
Anyway, have had a bit of a hard time with the old re-excision. Started leaking last week, but the hospital weren’t worried…they like to leave the fluid in there to give the breast some shape. Had my appointment with the consultant on Friday so I thought I’d stick on a clean dressing. That’s when my scar decided to let go!! All I can say is it was a good job I was stood by the bathroom sink!! OMG!! My boob deflated…but on the plus side I must weigh a little less now…
I got to see the main man at the hospital within 30 minutes of arriving…that’s a record!! It may have had something to do with me running in to the clinic and telling them I was leaking… But…fantastic news…IT’S ALL OUT NOW!! (My boob is now 70g lighter). And the surgical team don’t want to see me for another year now. I would probably have seen the oncologist a week on Tuesday, but we’re on holiday then so they’re rescheduling it for when I come back. Chemo…what a thing to have to come back to!!
We’re supposed to be off to Goodwood festival of speed tomorrow after 'im indoors blagged some tickets. I’m armed with lots of super-absorbent dressings (they’ve got those granules in like in nappies) from the hospital so that I can stuff them in my bra if the floodgates open again. I leaked a little overnight, but haven’t had anything today (so far…). I’m due to go back to work next week, although I think they’re are a little ‘grossed out’ by my descriptons of what’s been going on!! I’ve assured them I’ll bring plastic sheets and towels so I won’t make a mess!!
I’m sorry I’ve missed so much on here. One thing I did read was about a sore scalp when your hair starts coming out…my Mum had that but was able to get something from her GP which sorted it out…I’ll try and found out, although it may be too late now…
Anyway, lots of love 'n hugs to everyone. Hope you are all coping with all the sh*t that comes with the territory…
Sarahxx
Hey ladies,
Sarah hunny sorry you like Ann are having such trouble with your wounds, I do hope it improves now. I hope you have good holiday and enjoy the festival of speed.
Well I did it, I woke up this morning and the pillow had a fair bit of hair on it and my scalp was really sore so after watching the parade and 3 bicardi breezers, and then lots of water I went to my friends with a very clear head and got a no. 1 all over.
It doesn’t look too bad, anyone on FB that are on my list can see it I think.
I do have a couple of bald patches but nothing major, it will be gone in a couple of days no doubt.
Hope everyone is well
Love and hugs

GOOD LUCK ANN FOR TOMORROW

Hi Ann
Just popped on to say thanks for thinking about me when you have so much to think about. Sorry you are still sore & hope it went OK today and your back is healed enough for you to have chemo tomorrow.
My margins path report hasn’t come back yet - so won’t know about a re-excision until Wed pm. Bit 50/50 about it as my scar is healing nicely but then again I want to get rid of any pre-cancer nasties.
A friend came round tonight with a bottle of champagne and Thorntons chocolates - so am feeling REALLY good at the minute - will probably pay for it tomorrow, but worth it!! (She works in a hospice so knows what to say & do around BC - plus she gave me a hand massage (no not that kind) so she is welcome back anytime).
Lisa - thanks for the quote from your onc - that is reassuring - hope your chemo goes smoothly & good on you to go bare-headed to the pub this W/E.
Hope you other ladies are OK.
Love Jo xx
Hi guys
Hope you are all well.
Went to see my BCN and consultant yesterday about my back ended up calling the oncologist in and she is adamant that we should wait until it is healed before I start chemo. She said if it got infected during chemo while the wound was still open that it would very risky having to stitch or operate on it, and also the healing process is slowed during cemo. So it’s been delayed for another week, they will check it again on Friday and if it’s not healed will be delayed again. I know she is right as infections can kill but I feel so in limbo.
Have been researching wig shops and plan to visit a few more and take my time picking one. I have a bit more time with my hair, didn’t realise just how nice it looks until lately I will really miss it.
Had a lovely day yesterday Marcus was away with work so my friend Ian took me to the hospital as I still can’t drive ( 6 weeks ). When we got home the sun was out for the first time in weeks so we invited his wife over and got very merry on vino, Marcus came home about 6.30 and we had a bbq and spent all night under the patio heated drinking more wine. I had lots and lots of wine and lots of comfy cushions and managed to sit for most of the night without any pain, and laughed for hours it’s a good tonic isn’t it.
Lisa how is your scalp today have the hospital or anyone on here recommended anything to put on it to stop it being sore, there must be something to help. Will it be ok once your hair has completely gone?. Hope it’s not too bad today as I know you are up for your second dose tomorrow, it seems to be going really fast is it for you?.
Jo you sound like you are getting back to normal. You never know you might not need a re-excursion will keep my fingers crossed for you. Hope you aren’t suffering too much from the chocs and champagne.
Hi Sarah you are probably on holiday now hope you have a great time. Sorry to hear about the leak it’s a bu**er hopefully it will sort itself out and you can still enjoy yourself.
Hope you are all keeping well, keep your fingers crossed for Friday for me. Will be thinking about you tomorrow Lisa, you big brave girl.
Lots of love.

Ann,
I am so sorry they are delaying you again but it is for the best, I know that’s not what you want to hear but it would be awful if you got an infection on top of the chemo. But on the other hand I am really glad you have been making the most of it and enjoying yourself.
My hair is still falling out really badly, the pillow is covered in very short hairs and my head is patchey now. May just sit and pluck myself till it’s all gone as I think it looks bad now due to the bald patches.
It’s not as sore though which is good and hopefully once it is all gone it will be fine.
The chemo doesn’t seem to be going that fast but I am sure you will feel the same once yours starts. A lady who had her op the same day as my first one is mid way between 3 and 4 so she seems to be going fast to me.
Hope everyone else is OK
Love and hugs

Hi Lisa
I can’t believe how well you are coping with it all, you make me feel better everytime I hear from you. You will have to tell me how to set myself up on facebook and we can do before, after and during photos.
Keep well, good luck for tomorrow.

Thanks Ann, it’s easy pop on MSN and I’ll talk you through it sometime
Hello every one hope you are all ok …
SAL X
Hi All
Ann - sorry to hear that your chemo was delayed - but as Lisa says it would be awful to get an infection while on chemo! But glad that the delay meant you had a good night BBQ with friends - a good laugh and a bottle of wine with friends is the best medicine in my book!!
And thanks - your crossed fingers worked - I heard today that I won’t need a re-excision and started on Arimidex today too. The arm exercises seem to be working and I am almost able to feel optimistic now - maybe there will be life after BC after all. Still waiting to hear about rads - but hoping they won’t be too bad.
Glad you are still posting on this thread as everyone else seems to be on chemo now - I will be lonely on the rads threads.
I am on facebook - but only for friends & family - will try to look up the breast buddies - do I need to ask you to join Lisa?
Hope everyone else is OK.
Love Jo xx
Hi Jo
I’m really happy for you it’s a massive weight off to know it’s all out. Don’t worry about the rads you will cope well, they seem to wait a while before starting them.
Will keep posting on here as it’s a bit sentimental for me now it’s been a bit like keeping a diary.
Keep posting and let us know when you get your dates.

Hey ladies how are we today?
I got no.2 yesterday after waiting from 9am till 1pm. I was there 2 hours earlier but came out at the same time.
There was nothing wrong with my blood, apparently sometimes if they take it from the cannula it can clot so it was all good to go.
My neutrophil count was 1.0 higher yesterday than when I had my first lot so either the Ab’s did the trick or the mauka honey helped although I only had 2 spoonfuls.
The lifemel honey arrived this morning so will give it a go for the next 2 weeks and see if it helps keep the count up.
I definitely wasn’t as bad this time as last but even though they changed my anti-sickness tablets I was still talking on the big white telephone, but only twice and as I went straight to bed yesterday after I managed to sleep a lot so feeling a lot better today compared to last time round.
There were a couple of new ladies there yesterday and they looked so scared I felt so sorry for them. I also wondered did I look that scared?
It is all so crap and so daunting to go through, especially when they read over the side affects again and again.
Ann - any word on your back is it any better today? I just wish I could make a magic spell that would heal it up for you honey. Loads og huge big hugs going your way.
Jo - so glad to hear your news and fingers crossed about the rest. I am floating about FB somewhere lisa kirkwood, skin head in an orange hoody, fit the bill completely LOL. How have you been otherwise babes, haven’t seen you about much, see some of us do have lives LOL.
Hi to everyone else, I hope you are all well.
Love and hugs
