what size reconstruction

hi im not due my reconstruction til next yr but just wondered how you all feel about yours.ive only had one boob off at mo but when i have that one put back on they are going to empty my other one and re-fill it. im wondering what size they will give me. im a 34b now after 2 babies they shrunk at my biggest i was a d.im hoping they will do bigger than what i have now.im going to have the fat from my back and implants put in. has anyone else had this and how do they feel. my surgen has already told me not to expect my masectomy side to look that good. so again wondered what others thought thanks xx

Hi Piggy1980,

My experience is a bit different to yours but it might help give you the confidence to ask for what you want. I had large breasts before I had a full mastectomy on my right side last September. I have chosen not to have a reconstruction but I asked for, and my plastic surgeon has agreed to, a reduction on my other side so that I don’t need to wear a large prosthesis. Basically, I can choose what size I want to be. I have a small frame so will most likely choose a small size in balance with the rest of my body.

There will be limits to what they can achieve depending on how much they can harvest from your back. If you know what would make you feel good my advice is to go for it. If it can’t be done they’ll explain why and what can be achieved.

Good luck,

Jan xx

thank you so much for reply.i will def ask for bigger and just hope for the best.and like you say if it cant be done they will tell me why. i did want it from my tummy but was told i only had enough fat for one boob and it wouldnt be that big and i want both to look sort of the same.which is a shame coz i was hoping for tummy tuck but sit ups will have to do. xx

Hello

I had recon in July. I chose to have a C cup as that is what I already was and had only had my left breast removed, but the surgeon was happy to go up or down and adjust my right breast accordingly. So I am sure that your surgeon will be happy to make you a C or D. Although my surgeon did say that there usually isn’t enough tissue when doing an LD recon to go larger than a B cup, but as you are having implants I presume there is more room for choice.
