here i am again with another silly little question.
I was told I would be more comfortable wearing a sports bra in bed after the op, so need to get it now because I am going on holiday the week before I go in.
Do i buy the size i am now, or a bit bigger to cope with swelling and dressings?
there seem to be lots of different shapes and prices. I like the idea of cotton I suppose, but do they stretch enough?. Has anyone found a nice one. I am a double G cup with a tiny back which does not make it easier. seems to me a front opening one would be sensible, but I bet you cannot get that.
any tips would be greatly appreciated
The size you are now, that fits well and snugly, and get hold of those expanders as well. I found them invaluable when boobs swelled up with breastfeeding so got them this time but didn’t need to use them.
I got mine from M&S, but beware of the elastic at the bottom rolling up, I found that really annoying and rather uncomfortable as I was wearing them 24/7 for 3 weeks! Other people have found comfy ones in Asda, Tesco and other shops, I’m sure they’ll be along soon. And don’t forget the rolled-up sock to shove down your cleavage at night, to keep the boobies in position - sports bras are great for minimising vertical movement but don’t do so well at minimising horizontal movement so the sock was a god-send!
And you forgot something:
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A SILLY QUESTION!!!
Hi it’s not a silly question oldandlumpy.I brought my sports bras from Matalan only cost about £6 I brought my normal size and it was fine.I don’t think I had any swelling.
Good luck and have a good holiday

posted a long one but it got lost in cyber space - basically you might also like to try what I call a sloggi top , but its cheaper to buy them not from sloggi!

matalan!!! i love them, but they dont do my size. will investigate M&S and also look at sloggi tops, or i might ring the nice ladies at Bravissimo, the last bra i got from there was the most comfortable ever
just rang bravissimo, they were very supportive(pun not intended) Looked up my records, talked about the fact i am sleeping in it rather than jogging, looked at my purchase history and what bra’s fit me best. Recommended one that is particularly cool to wear and another that might fit better.and a couple of different sizes £28 each–ouch, but i know a bra at night helped after my biopsy ( i am still bruised–over two weeks now) and so i deserve a nice one that is compfy.
also they are sending me a selection (hit the credit card) so i can get best fit and are extending the return period in case i dont feel like going to the post office to return them quickly–what a lovely thought. I have not cried yet since this all started, but that nearly set me off.
I have bought all mine from Asda £6.00 they do post op bra’s and sports bra’s and they are comfy I did however buy a bigger back size rather than cup size as I tend to have swelling around my back and to the side of my boob after my op I have also bought a couple of medium support cami tops my boos are big anyway so nothing really supports them at the moment.
CM Thanks for the sock idea it’s at night I am most uncomfortable so am gonna give that a try tonight so I then can maybe lie in a different position.
Take Care and good luck
Tracy
