What to think

Hi there, my first post, yesterday I had my biopsy’s result that said I had grade 3 TNBC, I have to have a Pet scan next week and will be meeting the oncologist next week also, but he said yesterday that TNBC is an aggressive one and grows quickly - it has 2 lymph nodes affected aswell quite large that are cancerous so it’s already spread to there, and I’m really worried it’s gone to other parts of the body now. :pleading_face:he said chemo and immunotherapy will be first but apart from that I don’t have an actual plan yet. It’s so comforting reading peoples stories and right now my mind is all over the place. It’s like it’s gone from 0-serious quickly

You are welcome to our special family and I am so sorry you are in this position. We can’t control the outcome of your diagnosis and treatment, but we can be there for you whilst you’re going through it. Hopefully you will get some certainty which in turn will hopefully calm the anxiety. Keeping everything crossed for you. xxx

Hi @LittleBitBrave

Sorry to hear that you find yourself in the TNBC camp but you are in good company.

What you are feeling is normal. The diagnosis, scans and waiting for chemo to start is the hardest part. It normal to have such brutal thoughts running through your mind. BCN has breast cancer nurses that you can call and talk to. They are a great source of help as is this forum, and its good that you posted.

Like you my TNBC had already spread to a lymph node at diagnosis. The treatment for tnbc is usually chemo first, my oncologist advised me that the aim is to mop up cancer cells in your whole body first and shrink tumour and then remove it.
At the start of this journey its just terrifying and sometimes its very hard to let go of negative thoughts. But rest assured your oncology team will have experienced cases like yours and have a plan. Once you have a plan and treatment starts and you are in the care of your oncology team it gets a bit easier.

There are hundreds of amazing women on the forum and there is always someone to listen. Do continue to reach out. I have always held on to the view that if one person has walked the same path as me and survived then it proves its survivable and that can be me!. I have met many of these amazing women on this forum and they helped me stay strong.

Sending you a big virtual hug. Anna x

Hello lovely, so sorry to hear your news but you have your diagnosis, you have a starting plan it will be OK! I had TNBC it was early stage but it had spread to my lymph nodes there were 2 affected. Don’t worry about the word ‘aggressive’ it just spreads quicker but there’s amazing treatments now. I had chemo - paclitaxol & carbolplatin, they tried immunotherapy on me but I didn’t react well which was a shame because that stuff targets the cancer very well and hopefully it works for you. Chemo shrunk my tumour by half. Then I had the lump removed via a therapeutic mammoplasty which means I still have the breast & nipple, it looks the same I was very lucky. Then I had radiotherapy. I have been cancer free since June 2025  I know a lady who had this 22 years ago and it hasn’t come back. There’s more positive outcomes out there we just don’t hear or read about them. I signed up on this website for the ‘someone like me’ program and had a lovely lady I could talk to who has been through the same diagnosis. :pink_heart:
