Just about to start taking Anastrozole after single mastectomy, nodes clear, no radiation, no chemo, age 61.
I want to prevent any future problems from taking this as much as possible and am looking to start taking supplements on top of an already healthy diet.
Whilst realising that everyone seems to react differently to taking the pills.
Do you take preventative supplements? What do you take and what have been your results? Are there any generic recommendations? (I have searched the internet, but the more I look the more confused I become)
Thanks for your help.
Hi Susie,my acupuncturist recommended vitamin B12,vitamin D ,fish oils and flax seed oil -you can’t take flaxseed oil at same time as any other meds/vitamins as they can affect absorption .She also suggested Turmeric but that’s not recommended with Tamoxifen as it can affect how it works-I’m not sure whether it is ok with Letrozole. You do need to be careful as some supplements are really not recommended. Best do some research then check with your Onc or maybe ask in the ask the nurses section before you start anything .It can be a bit of a minefield '!!
Canceractive website has quite a lot of information about these issues and also diet.
I take anastrazole and was just about to start a thread 're joint pain when I saw yours. I have always been told to take vitamin D. Mine was in my boots when diagnosed and there is lots of research indicating low levels with incidence of breast cancer. However that seems to be generic advice and not anastrazole related. A good all round vitamin B (not just B12) is good too I was told. Think they’re called vitamin B complex x
