After weeks of being very sore ‘down below’, attempting, and failing, to have sex due to extreme pain, I went to the Gynae clinic at the hospital today. After an internal I was told that I am ‘very tight’ (no news there!) for which they are sending me some dilators (they have run out), but the soreness and pain is due to extreme dryness - hardly surprising as the tablets I’m on (Arimidex + anti-depressants, sleeping pills) all have loss of libido and dryness among the side-effects. I have been using ‘Replens’ on a regular basis and ‘Sylk’ as an immediate lubricant when intimacy has taken place.
The consultant prescribed a cream, ‘Ortho-Gynest’ which is oestrogen based. I asked her about using it and the risks, etc, and was told they were minimal. The thing is, do I use it and take the risks or put up with the soreness which, at times, has kept me awake at night? I have read about it on the internet and it says not to use it if you’ve had BC, but then tells you about possible increased risks.
