I have just been prescribed Letrozole - the Cipla brand and am going to start taking on Saturday as I’m away for a couple of days and don’t want to face any unwanted side effects while I am!
Does anyone have any advice as to which time of day is best to take it? And whether it’s best to take with food? I do tend to suffer with nausea so have read that with food may counter that?
I have read a couple of threads about the various brands that are available and am amazed at the difference they make to how ladies feel. I’m reviewing with my oncologist in 4 weeks to discuss how I’m coping with side effects so will bear the different available brands in mind if I need to.
Thank you. Xx
Hi Butterfly,
I am pretty new to all of this but have been taking Letrozole for 6 weeks now. I am sure more people with a lot more knowledge than I have will be along soon. I was told to take it early evening so that the hot flushes happen more during the night so not quite as embarassing as them happening during the daytime. I am not on the same brand as you but am pretty certain you could start taking them straight away as it takes a couple of weeks at least to get into your system so you wouldn’t experience any side effects as soon as Saturday.
I have set an alarm on my phone to remind me to take my tablet as I am not used to taking medication. I have found that although I can swallow them well I still feel like I have to eat something little just after to push it down properly even if its only a grape.
Good luck,
Kaz xx
Hi Butterfly, I have been taking Letrozole for two and a half years now and consider myself pretty lucky regarding side effects. I am on the Accord brand but was given Cipla for a couple of months and during that time I did notice a difference, I had more stiffness, my hair started to shed not hugely but noticeably, and I started to feel much more tired. Once I went back onto Accord everything settled down again. If you read some of the other threads on here you will notice that the Cipla brand seems to be one that more ladies have problems with. If you haven’t started taking them yet I would suggest asking your pharmacist if you could try a different one. Once you have one that suits you, you can ask the pharmacist to get that one for you, while they can’t guarantee they will every month, mine hasn’t let me down yet! I’ve never experienced any nausea so can’t help with that and only the very occasional hot flush, nothing major. I started off taking mine in the morning but now take it in the evening, only because I now take various supplements in the morning, haven’t really noticed any difference with the timing. Hope it works well for you and you find it easy to take, don’t forget to ask your pharmacist about a different brand if you get side effects on Cipla! Kxx
