I had a single mastectomy 10 days ago a d have a lot of swelling and bruising under my arm as well as very tender skin on my chest. I haven’t dared to wear a bra yet but should I? Just wondering when others started to wear a bra and what to do if it pushes on the swelling. I’m very nervous about it

I had my mastectomy just over 3 weeks ago. I put a zip up the front sports bra on the day after surgery - my nurse encouraged it and suggested a firm support one but by the time I got home from hospital I felt it was too tight and making the swelling above it worse so took it off! Ive just been wearing a little crop top type bra for a little bit each day but take it off when it becomes uncomfortable. I’m not sure what the actual recommendation is as different nurses have suggested different things but I seem to be healing ok fingers crossed!! Sorry my rambling probably doesn’t help you!

Nobody has said I should be wearing a bra. That’s why I was concerned. Because everyone else seems to have been told to wear one. I guess I’ll give the nurses a call on Monday and ask. I have a few things bothering me so I better call them!
