Hi, this may seem strange but one major reason I have still not had reconstruction, seven years after my mastectomy, is that I am a VERY light sleeper and go NUTS in hospital, especially with all those beeping machines nowadays. I am lucky if I get 2 hours’ sleep a night in hospital.
So, where can I get an individual or private room? Am interesting in both NHS hospitals and private ones, though I would need to win the lottery to have private surgery!
Two years ago, I had NHS surgery for prolapse and booked an individual room (which I had to pay for, though the surgery was free). However, the NHS only does provisional bookings: right up until the last minute, I didn’t know for sure if I would *get* a room to myself, as emergency patients get priority. Naturally I understand this, but my nerves were in shreds, worrying about it. Happily, I *did* get the room!
I asked my local private hospital about whether they have individual bedrooms and what their surgery prices are but they said they couldn’t tell me – I would have to pay to see a consultant to find out.
So, any recommendations of private *or* NHS hospitals with individual bedrooms are welcome! Thanks! - JSA
