WIG or ???
WIG or ??? Hi there
Well I am back again and have to have more chemio as the mets are trying to take over again . I am not looking forward to it one little bit. However the last time I didnt work so didnt need to wear a wig but this time I want to stay at work as long as poss so will need a wig. But as it should start to be hot ( well I hope so ) I wondered if you have any other ideas that I can try …
Thanks and luv to all jANE
hi jane Hi Jane, you have certainly been through the wringer! (not sure if thats just an Aussie expression or not?) Its a real bummer loosing your hair again, as if once as bad enough, although I have found it much easier than last time. The first time I rushed out to get a wig before I started chemo (because all the books said it was a good idea) I only wore it once. I found it too itchy and I felt like another person trying to hid something! I wear scaves, I couldnt bear to even look at the old ones from the first time, so a friend took me to the material shop, she has made me quite a collection, I can really mix an match with what I am wearing, they are a bit bigger than the bandana’s you buy so they have more length at the back. She even dragged me in again to make a winter collection! I dont know how people cope with a wig and hot flushes? but they must as plently of people wear them even those who arnt bald!
I see from your profile that you are taking zomata? Im about to start it and am a little nervous about the side effects. How do you feet on it, do you have aches and pains all over the place?
Im sure you will look beautiful with what ever you decide to wear!
Love Suzy
vinorilbine Hi Jane
Just read your profile…is it vinorilbine you are about to start? If so then complete hair loss is rare, though you may get some thinning. That’s what I’ve been told…started vinorilbone last Thursday. My head does itch like it did when I lost it (hair not head) on AC and taxotere but I am hoping that I’ll keep it.
Still have my wig just in case…I got used to it…wore it even in hot summer of 2004…but still hope I won’t need it again…something about hair loss makes me feel too much like a real cancer patient.
So far no bad side effects with vinorilbine…bit tired but manageable…early days though.
best wishes
Jane
Hi there Girls
Thanks for the quick reply
Suzy - I’ve had 3 lots of Zometa and didint really have any problems at all with it . No pain or anything . So dont mind carrying on with it + the chemio…
Jane - I had Vinorilbine for 3 months but it didint work for me - hence the chemio again. But although I had a real bad tummy on the first 2 courses the third was a lot easier.
Luv to you both and thanks for the tips - I"ll let you know if I wig or not
Bye jANE
Hi Jane
I have lost my hair twice but have never had a wig. I didn’t even buy one the first time as I knew I would never get on with it. I did buy lots and lots of lovely scarves which matched my outfit for work and evening going out clothes. For casual day wear I bought some really comfortable “buffs” which you can get in sports shops. For me that worked very well. I too worked throughout all my treatment first time round (until it came back in the brain and I had seizures – so not allowed to drive any more).
Good luck whatever you choose.

missing post Hi, i posted earlier but its vanished. You probly know by now ‘Hair’ is my fav topic!!!
The wig i have just bought is made of a micro fibre that breathes so it never gets hot and itchy. Bit expensive so depends on your budget but looks real and feels comfortable.
I am in France but they must have the same in the UK.
The website for my ‘wig place’ is
www.anydavray.fr
hope this helps

ps if you look at the site the wig i got is called ‘attitude’ and is completely my natural colour.
Hi there Pinapple
