Wig voucher

Hi ive just had my first session of chemo and have been offered a voucher for a wig
Can any of you ladies tell me how much these are worth pls and can you put money towards them to get a decent natural wig x

Hi Colby, the contribution from the Health Trusts varies. I’m in the Newcastle area and my voucher covered the full cost of a wig. Which Trust are you in?

At the recommended supplier I was invited to choose any one I wanted, which was lovely for me. People assume that synthetic hair will be like the Barbie doll hair. Not so! Mine is so natural that friends think I’ve been on some magic cancer treatment where you don’t lose your hair. ?The wig I chose, on advice, is on a lace cap for lightness, and is hand woven. This means that the parting just looks like my scalp. I chose one the same style and colour as my natural hair. I’m assuming there was some deal with NHS as the price tag on my wig was over £300. I believe real hair wigs are in the thousands.

Your voucher can only be used at recommended suppliers, and I think you may be able to put money towards the wig you want. You’ll need to check that out with your supplier. On your voucher it should state the contribution - mine stated ‘no cap’.Other ladies will be along shortly to give you more info. I’m sure. X
