I can only give you my experience. Our travel insurance is a perk of our bank account. When I contacted them after my lumpectomy I had to fill in a health questionnaire. Then I received confirmation that my cover can continue the same as before.
Can i recommend a company called insurance with? I have a heart condition and these were always the best company for travel insurance including cover for existing conditions before breast cancer, haven’t been away yet myself since this diagnosis but they do cover cancer xx
I used allclear a few times during treatment and they were very reasonable. I think all companies have a very high premium when you are under investigation & not 100% what the diagnosis is. Once you have the diagnosis they know what they’re dealing with & it’s much cheaper. Now you have that it might be worth phoning all clear again for a quote to get an idea.
If you are not wanting for investigations or results travel insurance becomes more affordable. It is worth looking around. The website ‘paying too much ‘ will give you several options. There are several sites that specialise in travel insurance with medical conditions. Hope that helps
I’d highly recommend Insurancewith. They offer personalised quotes and are highly knowledgeable. The company founder has secondary breast cancer and started the company as she couldn’t find affordable travel insurance after her diagnosis. About 3 years ago, before I heard about this company All Clear quoted me and my husband over £1200 for a week in Europe. With Insurancewith, it was about a tenth of that. Other companies wouldn’t even quote. One thing to bear in mind after listening to a Breast Cancer Now talk by the founder was that the company like a period of treatment stability rather than if you’ve just been diagnosed or had a change of medication.
I also had an annual policy with AllClear which was due to renew in March. I was going through chemotherapy in February and March, had radiotherapy at beginning of May followed by Letrazole and have a trip to Japan planned for October. When I phoned All Clear they originally quoted £1200 for an annual policy to cover Japan, which I told them was too much. They then said that they could reduce to £900 which I said was still too high. They then reduced to £680 which I agreed to. My husband is also on medication which is also factored into this. You have to start the annual policy within 60 days which was ok for to delay the insurance starting for a couple of months as I am not due to pay anything for my holiday until June. So basically don’t accept the first price quoted, hope you get sorted, best wishes.
We have just done our travel insurance with Sainsbury’s , my husband has a heart condition and diabetes, I’ve had breast cancer and a mastectomy, it was £273 for the two of us hope this helps x
