Hi!
I’m writing to see if anyone could give me any advice? I’m 23, and a few months ago I found a lump on my left breast. After seeing my GP, she was confident it was fibrodemia (?)(breast mouse?) but refered me to see a specialist just to double check. He also confirmed this after a breast examination, and said it was around 2cm, however he sent me for an ultrasound scan JUST to be on the safe side. I went for this yesterday, and the lovely lady who did it (sonographer??) at first said it was nothing to worry about, and even showed me my little breast pet on the screen. However, as she changed angle, she suddenly went quiet an dfound that it was closer to 4cm and has now refered my for a core needle biopsy :s
There are SO many questions I wish I had asked, but I feel like I spend these appointments trying to avoid the word ‘cancer’. Why do they perform these biopsies, what will they find out? Should I have it removed? The more I read up on it, the more confused I’m getting! Should I even be worried about cancer? My mums sister had it at quite a young age, but other than that there is no family history.
Many thanks for any advice, and thank you for letting me vent!
