Well I had my WLE and SNB yesterday and had the best result I could have hoped for, they did the node testing while I was under and no cancer was found so they didn’t have to do a clearence . I’ve got to go for my full test results the 1st August but the doc says that there is a 97% chance that the results from the nodes won’t change so fingers crossed it’s been contained in the breast and if I’m lucky only radiothearpy will be needed but whatever the doctors recommend I will do, anything to make sure it doesn’t come back. I’m just so relieved now to have it out of my body.
I’ve not had any pain though, it doesn’t even feel sore is this normal, will it kick in later? They’ve given me strong pain killers to take but so far I haven’t had to take one.
So for now I’ve been signed off for a couple of weeks and all I have to do is be a lazy tart in the sun . My lovely husband had been wonderful and running aroung after me.
I hope all you ladies are doing well.
Love
Chris x
What fabulous news, I hope you are celebrating with a large glass of something. When I had my first WLE and SNB I was surprised at the lack of pain. But after a week my boob was hurting and BCN suggested wearing a sports bra at night. This was great it really supported me plus it made teh swelling go down. I had anothe WLE a week last Wed and have had no pain with that either. Just waiting for my results to see if they got clear margins this time.
Dear Chris, that’s such great news! Really pleased for you - went for my results yesterday - also great news - margins clear - all of cancer removed, and lodes also clear. So radiotherapy once healed and have already started Tamoxifen.
Best of luck to you Sam with results on your latest WLE - will be keeping fingers x’d for you. I agree with you on the pain after op - I didn’t have too much pain for first week, but very painful since - especially since huge dressings were removed when I went for my results. Whole underarm area feeling strange and v sensitive, like its all burning, and still a bit numb. Hopefully those exercises will help eventually?
Enjoying my first white wine spritzer tonight to celelbrate - lovely! Especially as my darling daughters are both staying with us at the moment, and they’re making sure I don’t wait on them hand and foot like I normally do!
Wishing all the best to you all, and hope you can enjoy this sunshine
Love from Chris x
Morning Ladies
Chris, that’s great news that the margins are clear what a releif for you and I’ve got my fingers and toes crossed that your margins will come back clear this time too Sam.
Looks like I’ve got the pain to look forward to next week then, I’ll make the most of it while the no pain stage lasts lol.
I did have lovely cool glass of white wine last night with my meal that my lovely hubby made for me.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend before the thunderstorms start.
I too was surprised by the lack of pain. I was sore and it was uncomfortable in the heat but not actually painful Seems to have got more so as time has gone on…perhaps because of doing more? Yesterday I drove for the first time since my op and I could definitely tell last night! I only drove a couple of miles too.
Chris (sunflowerfan) - Great news that they got clear margins. I know what you mean too about the strange underarm feeling. The underarm has been more painful than my boob.
Chris (Mrs Ugbug) - my surgeon advised me to wear a crop top after the op as it supports all round. She said a sports bra would be too restrictive. Why can’t they all give the same advice?
I had my WLE and SNB (4 nodes removed) in January, followed by a second excision in February to get better margins. I can honestly say I’ve had no pain at all. I was able to lift my arm and use it normally almost straight away, I had no problems sleeping, and didn’t need any of the painkillers they gave me. I still have a slight swelling under the arm, but it is slight and isn’t painful. My surgeon just told me to wear an old bra with no wiring. I decided not to wear a bra at all in the house.
We are all different, and I suppose much depends on how much tissue was removed, how difficult it was to remove the nasty bits, and how much “messing about” there was, not to mention the size of our breasts!
i am not sure what i am doing re- this site had WLE and SNB 9/7/2013 have had clear margins and no node involvement or LVI but the grade has been changed from 2 to 3 they havent yet got the results of hormone test . Am preparing myself for chemo but frightened of triple negative as not gone into this very much am so scared of everything at present
I wa slike you Lola doing things as normal almost immediately. I have a bra top and two sports bras. They both give support but I did find the sports helped with the swelling as I was finding that uncomfortable. A sports bra sort of compresses it so the swelling goes down quicker. We are all told different things though. xx
Thank you ladies some great ideas there, still no pain just a slight ache yesterday but nothing major, able to move my arm fairly normally already.
Like you Lola I’ve decided not to wear a bra around the house. Hubby took me out to lunch yesterday and I put a bra on then, it’s a size bigger than normal and was comfortable enough although I was pleased to take it off when we got in. Like you say we are all different so I’ll just take it as it comes xx
This is to venice25, I am the same as you, 4.5cm tumour removed from right breast, clear margin of tissue and clear lymph nodes, and also grade 3, however am HER2+ and oestrogen receptive and have had 2 cycles of FEC chemo so far, next is week today then 3 cycles of T followed by radiotherapy and a year oF Herceptin. Side effects so far have been nil apart from the hair loss and I’ve never felt so well! Try not to be frightened but if you are, talk to someone, it definitely helps, I will talk to anyone who will listen and am remaining positive and trying to stay as normal as possible apart from being told to take 6 months off work is real really NOT a problem!
Take care xxx
hi Fiddles thankyou so much for your reply it has really given me alot of comfort and reassurance which is definately what I need at present . I am so glad you are getting through chemo without serious side effects having this message from you has lessened my anxiety and fear will do as you suggested talk and remain positive good luck with your treatment Gill x
