Hi again
Okay, i posted about piles last week, got that sorted now!
Next problem. All my body hair has gone, just left with a tiny bit of lady hair. I have now spotted a little sore on one of my lips down below…it is quite tender to touch and a bit red.
Do you think it is where it has rubbed as there is little hair there now, or could it be a symptom of thrush ( the whole area is not itchy or red), or could it just be a spot?
I have put some vaseline on it, then bought some sudocream to put on. It is clean and does not look odd, but feels sore.
I would have thought thrush would a more generalised soreness with a cottage cheese type discharge. If the spot is where you had hair, I suppose it could be a blocked hair follicle. Other than that, I don’t know. Might be a question of watching it to see if it develops into anything.
Are you currently having chemo?? I developed a sore each time (about 2 weeks after each FEC) which sounds exactly like you described. I think it is the chemo coming out through the soft tissue - I also got sores on my tongue. Best to check with doc though!
Hi Hurdygurdy
Yes, I am on chemo at the mo, it is two weeks tomorrow since the last FEC. It is really like a sore, but quite painful to touch.
I have had a sore tongue for a few days too, but that has cleared up.
Hi Naz - no I didn’t go to docs as it just cleared up each time on its own after a few days!! It sounds like the same kind of thing though - our poor old bodies and chemo.
naz it could be herpes… its thought about 70% of the adult population has the virus but for many they have no symptoms but they can become apparent when the immune system is compromised like having chemo.
you can take prophylactic aciclovir every day to keep it under control… this goes for cold sores too as its the same virus which causes both and the strain that causes cold sores is now the one that causes the most on the genitals… blame oral sex!
it is painful and can be sore to pee… if you actually have a blister/ulcer you can get a swab taken to give you a definite diagnosis but it can be sore getting swabed when the virus is active… there isnt really any other reliable way of testing… there is a blood test for antibodies but its rarely done due to cost and inaccuaracy…
often you would get flulike symptoms from a first outbreak and this would be worse than subsequent outbreaks… many people do not realise they have ever had an out break and could have had one years before and just thought they had flu and a sore foof but not that they were related.
im a sexual health nurse so if you wanna speak to me more about it in confidence you can pm me.
hope your feeling less uncomfortable soon.
Lulu xx
ps regardless of what it is… if its sore to pee pour a jug of warmish water over you or pee in the shower as it dilutes the urine and is less painful.
