Work

Hello

Just need some advice. I had a mastectomy and diep September 2017 and had my other one reconstructed April this year. Since I have been back at work in June, I mention to my employer about more surgery which I wasn’t expecting. I’m a cleaner, two weeks later they mention moving me to afternoons, I told them I couldn’t because of appointments and fatigue. I produce a letter from the fatigue clinic and my doctor saying I was best in the morning energy wise. Three weeks later they want to transfer me onto a cleaning company but still clean in their factory. I have a meeting next week. They said it’s nothing to do with me, it’s about the company needs and saving money. What’s the best way to approach it. It’s stressing me out so much.

Wow Mickey, that’s hard for you. I haven’t got an answer, but just sending a virtual hug and acknowledging your situation. Are you in Unison? I guess you would have the right to a union rep at any meetings. Have you approached HR at all? I think Macmillan would also be able to offer advice and support.  I’m long retired, but really feel for you. I’m sure someone will be along soon who can give you some up to date advice. X
