Hi, I was diagnosed with stage 3 on left side 15th August. It has spread to lymph nodes. Since my initial biopsy I have noticed several areas of discomfort but because I know I’m stage 3, I’m so scared it has spread. I have an area on right, just at edge of ribs that is tender to touch and there is also discomfort at times when I’m sat still, not touching it. I’m terrified that there could be spread to my liver. I have also had a pretty uncomfortable left shoulder and random joint pains throughout my body which I hadn’t noticed before. I get CT scan tomorrow but I’m absolutely dreading it. I’m trying to search for other things that Gould cause this pain. I hope you can advise xo
Hi sam3
Thank you for your post.
Being diagnosed with breast cancer is very difficult and as you mention, it’s not unusual to worry about the possibility that the cancer has spread.
We often hear from people who are newly diagnosed and anxious that every discomfort or pain they notice may be a sign of the cancer spreading. It’s good to know that you are having your CT scan tomorrow. You could also have a chat to your breast care nurse and team concerning your worries about the tenderness, pain and discomfort you have noticed.
You could speak to your breast care nurse or GP about your concerns. They may be able to refer you for some talking therapies to help you through this difficult time.
We offer a range of free supportive services for anyone who has had a diagnosis of breast cancer which you may be interested in.
