Worried after clinic

Hi all!
I went to the breast clinic yesterday had the full works - ultrasound, mammogram and biopsy. I went in generally not worried I’m 32 and I thought it would be something wrong with my implant.

After all the tests I went back in to the consultant she was very blunt and just said basically we think it’s breast cancer.
I started to cry so the nurse took me out to another room so I could have a moment with my other half. She then just gave me the biopsy result appointment and I left.

I didn’t ask any questions as I didn’t really have time to think.

Could they be wrong? Or I’m guessing they would only say that if they were pretty sure.
My anxiety is through the roof and I’m so teary!

Any advice would be great! What will happen next?

Hi @glasgow12

Sorry you have to be here, but welcome!

It’s such a difficult time waiting for results and tests, no wonder you are feeling as you are. Although cancer cannot be confirmed until the results are back, radiologists are experienced people who know what they are looking for so, sadly, they are probably, although not definitely, correct.

At your results appointment you will be told what they find out from the scans and biopsy (Grade 1-3, whether it is hormone driven, HER-/+, size, lymph node involvement) and this will inform your treatment plan. Before my diagnosis I never knew there were different types of breast cancer and different treatment plans.

You may receive your plan at this appointment or sent for further testing before it is agreed by MDT (group of medical professionals who discuss each case). I know it’s awful and frightening right now, but please believe me and others when we say that the waiting and not knowing things really is the toughest part. I guarantee you will feel better when you know what is happening and when.

Best of luck with everything. x

Hi @glasgow12

Welcome to the forum and sorry that you are here.

As @southwest123 has already said you will know better once you have your full results and a plan in place. The waiting is always the worst part.

I would get a book and write down any questions you have for your next appointment. Take it with you and make notes, if you can, or ask someone to do it for you. I think it was helpful to always have someone with me at all my appointments as sometimes you can become overwhelmed and it’s good to be able to talk about things afterwards.

This might be helpful.

Hi glasgow12

Sorry to find you here. This is a very difficult time for you. Waiting for biopsy results and tests is horrible and it’s very hard to keep perspective.

So, it seems they have found some areas of concern. The biopsy results will confirm exactly what it is. When you know you will feel more in control. Do take someone with you when you go in for the results because it’s hard to remember what has been said. If this is BC, it’s been found and they can deal with it. You will be very well looked after, and that’s a big positive.

Also remember that only the biopsy can confirm things so you will only know for sure with those results so it’s best not to overthink. Until then, try to stay calm and positive. Not easy I know but staying busy and distracting yourself will help a bit.

Good luck x

Hi there , I didn’t want to read and run ! In June 2023 I like you went along to the breast clinic to be told I had breast cancer just needed to confirm the result at the time I was 31.

I waited a week and got my result and actually as soon as I had the result it felt much better knowing I could do something about it! I had 7 rounds of chemo from July -november and then a mastectomy and diep flap December 2023 and radio in march 2024. Iv had my first mammogram in December and was all fine  doesn’t feel like it even really happened now !
You will be the same ! Take one day at a time and modern medicine is amazing and they make a whole plan for you and then before you know it your out the other side ! Let me know if you have any other questions and good luck xx
