worried sick

hi there
l just joined as l just wanted to be in touch with others who may be in a situation like me, three fridays ago while having a bath l noticed a redish patch near my nipple, l felt it and felt a pea shape size lump, thought l was going mad and hub felt too and agreed there was something there, went to the docs who was supose to be reffering me to the hospital within two weeks,he said if l noticed any changes to go straight back and see him l did as my right boob hurt and was painful, he said to me go away take some aintibiotics just incase an infection was there, l went back to see him again as l was not happy though the pain had gone the lump was still there, my doctor said come sback in two weeks and we will decided what to do then!!! this was a week ago now, this morning l had an asthmas check and l told the nurse l saw what and how my doctor had been with me, she said she was going to have words with him about sending me for an urgent referal and that she would ring me back to let me know, well the nurse hasnt! there is a strong history of cancer in the family, mother has had breast cancer twice plus two aunties, my dad died a year ago from cancer, l also have through no fault of my own have chronic liver diesease too, to say l am scared senceless is an under statement all l keep thinking about is my 4 1/2 yr old its also almost a year since l lost my dad to cancer too julia x

You poor thing - sounds like you and me have similar symptoms, only difference being in my case it was me that didn’t go back to GP! I am very new to this world, awaiting my first appointment with the Breast Clinic (apparently happens within two weeks if you tick one of the list of symptoms), but judging by other posts across this site and the discussion that I had with the Helpline, you need to push the GP and make sure that you get the appointment - if for no other reason but to rule out anything ‘nasty’! So go back and nag - they faxed my appt. whilst I was in the room!
Let me know how you get on, and good luck - in my case funny thing is that all the aches / itching have gone since I saw the doctor (lump still there though along with red patch)! Take care.

HI Julia.
Tomorrow go down to the doctors and make an appointment (go with someone for moral support who can step in if necessary). Explain family history and that you want to be fast tracked to the hospital (breast clinic). Do not leave to they agree…
Keep positive and try not too worry (i know easier said than done) it maybe nothing but with your history you really need to be seen.
Please let us know how you get on and good luck.

Firstly l would like to thank you all for replying to my message, l went along to the doctors this afternoon, the doctor felt my boob and said he couldnt feel any lump and even my hub said he couldnt feel anything, men hey! well l said that l wasnt happy and that l wanted to be reffered to the hospital, the doctor has reluctantly agreed to send me for a scan! but l feel as though l have wasted the doctors time now x

You’ve nt wasted his time at all, and I can’t believe he left you feeling like that. I feel like that with my doctor too, wish they’d take women’s breast problems more seriously.

I’ll warn you, my doctor reluctantly put me through as a “very non-urgent” appointment and I have it on February 9th - EIGHTY DAYS after I first saw my doctor!!!

This has been going on for three weeks now as l first went to see him 3 weeks ago today, firstly he found a lump now today he cant find it, made me feel so mad too and my stress levels were through the roof by the time l had come out of there! So who knows when he will get round to referring me but if l havent heard anything by next week l am going to go and see him again!!!

Hi
If you are still worried best to be checked out and find there is nothing wrong than to leave it. Keep on top of it and chase the doctors up. Good luck and let us know how you go and what happens.
HugsXXXX
