worried what tomorrow might bring

I am relatively new to these forums, Am 31 and have an appointment tomorrow after a very agonising 2 week wait (urgent referal) have not been told what to expect at my appointment although am hopign all test will be done on the same day if needed. I do nothave a lump ( that I can feel) although GP did seem to think could feel a thickening so am not sure what they will test. My symptoms are my left nipple suddenly started to retract and now is fully and does not evert even with pressure, also have what GP called puckering to the skin surrounding the L nipple. has anyone else had a referral when no lump can be definately felt?

Dear izzy01,

I am sure you will soon get some responses from the other forum users. In the meantime, I thought the BCC publication “Referral to a breast clinic” may be useful. It describes what to expect at a clinic appointment and gives details of the different tests you may have. If you click on the link below you will be able to download a copy.

Hi izzy,

I just want to wish you well tomorrow. These past 2 weeks must have been so hard for you - the waiting is agonising. Once you have some answers and a plan of action it does start to feel a bit easier. Odd word to use really cos it’s never easy but you will get lots of support here because we have all been through it. Initially when I first went to the GP I didn’t know I had anything wrong - I went cos I was on HRT and she checked my breasts and asked if I was aware of a mass she could feel. I was so shocked - had mammogram the following day and it all took off from there. That was 19 years ago.

Take care and come back and let us know how you get on.

Dawn

Hi, just wanted to offer some support but really there is nothing very comforting that any of us can say. So hoping it works out for you and you have an “escape”. I am 1 yr post mast, 4 months post chemo and I can empathise with what you are going through. Sendng you lots of love

Hi izzy

I am in the same boat. No definite lump, but sudden pain in the breast and into the armpit. Your wait sounds like a drag, I am sorry for you having to live through that. For me this is going so fast, I can hardly get my head round it. First signs Saturday, saw 2 docs Sunday, my own GP Monday. She called oncology then told me to get cab to A&E with an overnight bag. More prodding, bloods, urine etc. then sent home to ‘wait’. Very irksome, but managed to get in for assessment at the Royal Marsden tomorrow. Kind of scary. At work they think I have swine flu and are sending me best wishes - but I kind of want the heavy duty fingers crossed, angels, fairies and direct line to the heavens type!

Then again, the odds are small and most things are stacked in our favour. I love Dawn’s sign off - ‘that was 19 years ago’. I’m holding onto that! x

all the best foe tommorrow, the waiting around is hard ,but hopefully you will be ok

Hi Izzy, I had the same as you. Inverted nipple. The breast looked inflamed too. My GP gave me Antibiotics and said to come back in a week. I ended up at breast clinic for a Mammogram then a Biopsy. They told me the same day I would be having a Mastectomy followed by Chemo and Radio therapy.
So don’t go alone like I did. Hopefully yours is just something Antibiotics will clear up.I really hope so. Good Luck Darl. xxx

Hope that it is good news today…

There is a very rare form of cancer called IBC which shows up as inflammation, puckered skin and often an inverted nipple… Unfortunatly most GPs are convinced they are seeing an infection or skin reaction as there is no lump… Instead the tumour grows as sheets… I was diagnosed with it last May…

Once again - really hope all goes well today… {{{hugs}}}

Theresa

Went to Clinic today and had examination and ultrasound, and appears to be good news… duct ecstasia they think although couldnt expain why skin looked puckered. Have been asked to keep an eye on for any further changes and will have another app for about 1 month time. fingers crossed x
