Hi Trundle.

I seems your post got buried. None of us can say what the outcome of your visit to the clinic will be or comment on any of the signs and symptoms you are having. You have done the right thing by getting the lump seen to. 80% of lumps are benign but whatever the news, please let us know.

Take care

Hi Trundle.

Didn’t see your post earlier, but I’m sure others will be along soon too. (Well spotted, RT - great name, by the way!)

You’ve done absolutely the right thing in getting referred, but the waiting is a complete pig and I’m sorry you’re in the waiting room. RancidTart is right, the vast majority of lumps are benign, or cysts, or normal changes in breast tissue for women of your age. I’m not going to say you shouldn’t worry because you’re human and we’ve all been where you are, and it’s not fun, to put it mildly.

You might find it helpful to read some of the leaflets that you can download from this site, click on Media centre at the top of the page and look for things in the “Worried” section. They explain the sort of things that what you’ve discovered MIGHT be, but of course no-one can tell you everything’s fine until you’ve been through the hoops of clinic, investigation, results.

You might also find it useful to call the helpline, again the number’s at the top of the page.

In the meantime if you want to let loose with your worries and concerns, feel free. Sometimes it can be tough trying to hold it together for others when you’re frantic with worry, but you can let it go with us as we’ve been there.

And I’m so sorry you don’t have your mum and dad around either, mums and dads are really special and I’m sure you miss them dreadfully, particularly at worrying times like this.

Good luck, and let us know how you get on.
