i found a lump in my right breast on new years eve went straight 2 docs who referred me to hospital. saw consultant on the 7/1/11 he sent me straight for a mammogram, they then said i had to have ultra sound. they did a core biopsy at this time. i still havent heard anything apart from a copy of the letter tey sent to my gp which says thanks for referring this lady who has bilateral breast lumpiness which appears clinically begin, we have arranged imaging and will keep you informed. it doesnt mention the biopsy results…dont no what to do
They have obviously phrased the letter to your GP in a confusing manner. I think what they are saying is that ‘benign lumpiness’ means that it is not cancerous. Benign means it is just lumpy. If they had found anything during the core biopsy they would have recalled you so I really wouldn’t worry. However, if you do need more reassurance do contact your GP and ask him/her to talk you through the letter.

i went back to gp and he said he would look into it and ring me when he got results…that was nearly two weeks ago…and still no phone call…i feel like im stalking them and dont no where to turn…i just want a explaination of what the lump is!!!..im getting pain in my breast, armpit and down my arm since having biopsy done
Do chase it up, it probably is all ok but make sure that the biopsy was negative by asking your GP to chase it up with the hospital. That way in the unlikely event that they have ‘lost’ the results they’ll be able to chase it up. Just remember that most lumps are fine!
