Hi all,
My son’s friend sent a link to a little flow diagram cartoon
It’s about cancer in general, but the general principle is the same.
Best wishes all. Stella

Thanks for the link, What a great, succinct explanation. Perhaps we should all carry a copy to show people who say ‘But you’re cured now, aren’t you?’
Love the link. Should be copied and given to others to help them understand the meaning of having cancer !
Fab Like that. The amount of people who think I’m “cured”. Having to explain that we won’t know that for 5 years is hard for people to get their head around.
How do I explain it as easily as I can? As so…
Yes they physically removed the tumour and they didn’t find it in my blood or in my lymph nodes, however there are micro cancer cells that they can’t yet detect by tests that can still get through your system and hang about dormant for a while.
That is why I’ve had chemo and radio, to kill as many of these errant cells as possible to give me the best chance of survival.
HOwever, if those cells aren’t all killed off then they could regrow and givce me a new tumour elsewhere in my body, if this happens it’ll be likely to be in the next 5 years.
So we won’t really know for sure.
Bummer eh?
And I have an 84% of this NOT happening after all treatment, but someone has to be in the 16% which is why it’s a worry that every ache and pain could be a new tumour site.
Brilliant!
I think I will be passing this link around to quite a few people.

Me too … it totally explains it x
