Hi - I am petrified atm, I am a single mum with three small children -
A few weeks ago I found a lump that hurt like a bee sting and I instantly had a bad bad feeling
I went to the doc’s who put me on antibiotics that I took religiously and had to wait 4 weeks to return to the doc’s
The lump has retreated slightly although I have underarmnpain on return to the doc, she was only a few seconds and said she wants to refer me also some odd pain in my bust
However she seemed confident that it was not a bad lump but it should not be there and referred urgently under the two week wait May she have she was very reassuring
However I still sat and cried in my car for ages as now I have to wait longer fir my appointment and am so scared as to what is next I am wondering now if the doc could have been generous with the truth, could she have passified my anxiety I am going crazy with worry and I am so scared about not be able to look after my lovely children and how I could cope financially if I has to take time off work

Hi Nikki,
it is a horrible time , but my experience all through this journey is that all the clinical tems have been very honest and they do not give false hope , at any stage . I am sure your lump will not be a nasty one, im no clinician but it does sound like an infected bit of tissue .
keep strong x
Hi Nikki
I just wish I could come over and give you a big hug! Of course you are terrified and anxious that is perfectly natural, It does sound like an infection, I did not have pain and had no idea I even had breast cancer till I was called back after a mammo. It is no good me saying don’t worry because of course you will till you are told otherwise. I just hope the time passes quickly for you and you can have your mind put at ease. There are many people on this site you can share your worries with so call the helpline don’t sit by yourself, talking definitely helps and helps to cope with passing the time.
with best wishes for a happy outcome for you
Suzy
Woah Nikki! Take a deep breath.
I’m not sure why you are doubting your doctor? At your age the odds are extremely good that it will not be a malignancy, but your doctor has no way of telling that for sure. All too often we read of ladies who are told by their doctors to go away and stop worrying, when infact they do have something going on.
So your doctor is being careful and professional in getting your lump checked out. Yes the waiting is horrible once you have an idea that something is wrong, but do anything you can to distract yourself, and hopefully the news will be good for you!
We all understand how you are feeling, and do come back and let off steam any time you need to. Also please let us know the outcome, especially if it is good… We LOVE good news!!! ![]()

My appointment has arrive for next Tuesday strangely an interview for a school job arrived and they clash times - I have worked so so hard to get through my degree, I have taken in ironing and done cleaning so we can make ends meet
just can’t believe I will miss this opportunity just when I thought things could turn a corner and I might have been able to give the kids a better life -
They won’t move my interview and I won’t gamble my health
Am still worried and am so grateful for all your support
Nikki,
I would go for the interview as a week or two won’t make much difference in the scheme of things and you may not have bc. I found my lump in early April and didn’t do anything about it until late August and then delayed hospital appointment by two weeks so wasn’t diagnosed until late September. I was lucky as, though an aggressive cancer, it hadn’t spread to lymph nodes.
Take care and hugs to you and your children. I, too, was a teacher, recently retired when diagnosed.
Liz,x
Hello Nikki, call the school and ask for a change of time for your job interview, I am sure they will be flexible and you don’t have to to tell them why. Take care.
I called the school and they where a bit rude they won’t change the Times at all
I must get this checked and it’s one more night Goodness it’s going so slow
