Wound advise after mastectomy and reconstruction

Happy Friday everyone.  I’m 2.5 weeks post mastectomy and reconstruction. I had my dressings taken off yesterday. I still has a hard dry residue about 2cm all around the scar and I wondered if this is glue residue and if so should I just leave it or try and remove it with something? Also are there any good recommendations on what to rub into the scar to reduce the ridge and redness? I have read about silicon patches that you can buy or is a decent oil the best way?  Any help or advise would be appreciated. Thanks ladies x

Hi pyjamagirl

I had a single mx/node clearance 6 weeks ago and was told not to remove the glue

When I went to see my physiotherapist 3 weeks post op I asked about moisturising my wound and she said absolutely not as it was still at risk of splitting open… She will assess it this week and will let me know if I can use moisturiser and she will massage it and show me how to massage it too!

Im assuming it must be similar advice for mx/recon… Maybe your BCN could advise you x ???
