Wound Glue

Not sure where to ask this, I’m 2 weeks post surgery and the glue used to seal wound hasn’t budged, the wound is healing nicely, I know it says not to pick at it (well its not lifting so nothing grab anyway) but I’m worried how will they go about removing it, when I go next week for results.

Dear Cruising,

We done, for getting this far with your surgery. We all get anxious about different things after being through so much, as you still have another week to go before being seen, why not give your breast cancer nurse a call for a chat and reassurance.

Wishing you well, health and happiness going forward.

Hi, pleased surgery went well and your wound is healing. I am not the expert, but I think the glue just dissolves and breaks away. I would phone your team for advice if concerned x

I didn’t have it removed. It just dissolved.

Hi, My surgeon chose glue rather than stitches for my mastectomy and node clearance. ( also had glue after a bowel cancer surgery) The glue will gradually dissolve or fall off in very tiny pieces of its own accord. So much easier than having to have stitches removed. My mastectomy glue took about 3 months to completely disappear but with the bowel cancer about a month. I think it could be the case of how much glue they use or what type, but I do not actually know. Just DO NOT pick at it. I would certainly choose glue rather than stitches. Good luck and I hope all goes well for you. All you lovely ladies take care.

Hi
I was told the glue should just dissolve, but most of mind didn’t. (After my mastectomy and DIEP flap surgery)

The nurses said for me to pick the remaining off but I really didn’t feel comfortable doing in myself so went back to the hospital and they picked and wiped the remaining glue away.
Felt so much happier a nurse doing it than myself.
All the very best xx
