Xeloda - going well

Quick note to comfort anyone who is due to go on to Xeloda as part of TACT2 Trial…I am one week and 2 days in and this is a walk in the park compared to epi. No sickness or nausea so far and I am using E45, diprobase and any handcream I pass in friend’s houses and my hands and feet are fine so far too.

All the best to other trial folk out there.

Hi Sinclair

Just wanted to reply although I have been on a different regime, to express how happy I am for you that it’s going well.

It sounds like you are due for some relief from the bad symptoms and I’m happy you’re getting it.

Thanks for posting that, Sinclair! I was feeling a bit fed up today and it cheered me up to log on and read your post. I’m on arm 4 of the TACT2 trial. I did the third accelerated epi last wed and it’s not that any of the side-effects from that have been so bad for me, just v tired which is frustrating, bad night’s sleep last night and a bit off my food etc. Anyway, some lovely friends have taken our kids (4 and 7) out for the afternoon/evening to a fireworks do so I am resting and taking it easy. I’m trying to focus on my Xmas shopping list - as I don’t feel well enough to go out, I’m internet window shopping instead!

Hi Sinclair
I’m just one week into Xeloda and am also on Tact2 trial and fully agree with you about comparision to epi.No sickness, hair reasonably stable -no sign of further loss anyway-I read on the net about udderly smooth-a lotion you can get for hands and feet=I mentioned it to my oncologist who says she uses it as well -so I’ve got some myself. Also on the unit I attend they recommended Hemp hand cream from body shop which is supposed to be very good.

Don’t really want to put a downer on this one, but the Hand Foot Syndrome from Xeloda didn’t kick in for me until the 3rd cycle… having said that, it’s not too bad and much for do-able than the epirubicin! Hair growing back… albeit grey!! Far too young for that!

hi everyone
Im also just a week into Xeloda and cant believe how much better it is than the epi im too on tact2 arm 4 . Ive also had no sickness or any other side effect to speak of which is a relief after having a horrible time with the epi. I too am using E45 cream for hands and feet and am okay at the min. Its early days yet but keeping fingers crossed . Good luck to you all.

Sorry to hear that hand foot got you in the end AliS but thank you for the reality check! Each day and week at a time as always. I wonder about my hair coming in grey too (33). I assure myself it would be sophisticated and hope you are managing to feel that way.

Thanks to all for chat.

Hi Sinclair,

I’ve decided that I don’t want to put any more chemicals on my head… sounds silly, but who knows what caused this horrible disease…so I guess I’ll just have to accept the grey hair as what I am from now on… Good luck with the Xeloda… much better than the Epi! Hope you don’t get any side-effects
Keep smiling!
