Yearly mammogram

Hi All I just had what I’d call a confusing appointment with yet another consultant! She didn’t know why I was there? I said possibly the BC nurses had arranged it as I’m having a hard time with letrozole it’s causing all sorts of problems with my joints, moods etc and also my follow up mammogram(first one after surgery) is nearly 3 months late! She said she’d arrange it asap which is fine, then she said it would be 2 yearly after that? The original hospital said it would be yearly for 5 years? I also asked about me having a partial ovary left and she told me it doesn’t matter as you need oestrogen for you’re bones? I had hormone receptive bc so that left me a little confused as well? Anyone else dealt with changing hospitals and getting conflicting information

thank you

Hi Lynn

As if we don’t have enough problems without conflicting information! You didn’t say if she had a suggestion for the letrazole? Your questions seem appropriate for the nurses so I’d suggest ringing the number above - the service is excellent and very reassuring - or pasting your post in the Ask The Nurses section where you will get a professional opinion. All I can say is I was told it would be an annual mammogram for 5 years and, if you weren’t offered zoledronate treatment for your bones, maybe your bc was not highly oestrogen positive and the risk is low for you. But a guess isn’t as helpful as a nurse’s opinion. I hope you get some reassurance xx
