We are now recruiting for our Younger Women’s Forum in Sheffield on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th March.
If you are aged between 20 and 45 and have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer, this two-day residential programme offers the opportunity to learn more about breast cancer and to meet young women in a similar situation.
Younger women diagnosed with breast cancer have specific needs and issues, which is why we set up the Younger Women’s Forums.
If you are interested in attending, or for further information, please contact us on 0845 0771893 or email <script type=“text/javascript”>eval(unescape(‘%64%6f%63%75%6d%65%6e%74%2e%77%72%69%74%65%28%27%3c%61%20%68%72%65%66%3d%22%6d%61%69%6c%74%6f%3a%6e%72%63%40%62%72%65%61%73%74%63%61%6e%63%65%72%63%61%72%65%2e%6f%72%67%2e%75%6b%22%3e%6e%72%63%40%62%72%65%61%73%74%63%61%6e%63%65%72%63%61%72%65%2e%6f%72%67%2e%75%6b%3c%2f%61%3e%27%29%3b’))</script>
I am very interested in the residential, topics covered and really enjoy the support of others and socialising. Would like to come to the residential in Sheffield.
Lymphoedema, sharing treatment queries, adoption (wanted to but now on hold due to diagnosis and adopting alone), menopause risk and symptoms, and surgery options (I have options). Main areas of interest. Also, want to get pilot’s licence when treatment completed (will I still be able?). Also my employer seems not to want me in work and has refused to allow me on premises (?discrimination or supportive?!). These are some of the issues I face being a youngster with cancer.
Problem is I am in the middle of Chemo and will have had a treatment on the Tuesday that week. It is a shame there is nowhere closer than Sheffield. I am pleased that it is happening somewhere in the north, but I am on the english side of the scottish border and it will take 3 and a half hours of travelling south to get to sheffield if I drive. I know it is a factor of where I live and share this with wales, cornwall, east anglia and prob others. Hopefully, I will not be sickly then and able to travel. At least not neutropenic at that stage. Will it be possible to register in anticipation of being well, but to cancel on the day if unwell? I really want to come, but don’t want to be selfish in taking up a place. I’m at least 75% sure of being able to make it, as have had 2 cycles so far, and it’s manageable.
Also, is there anyone present who may be willing to give me a s/c injection into the tummy, as I am on heparin? I can’t do it for myself as I haven’t learned yet due to a needle phobia but refuse to let it stop me doing things. If there is someone, perhaps a nurse who will be there and willing to do it, I would like to register. I’m getting more determined as I am writing this!
Thanks in anticipation, and in appreciation of the support I have already received from BCC.
