Hi littlebea
Thanks for posting.
It’s natural to wonder about your treatment if you have read information that has raised a doubt in your mind.
Zoladex (Goserelin) can be given every 28 days (3.6mg) or every 12 weeks (10.8mg). Both are indicated for and are effective in the treatment of prostate cancer and breast cancer. There is some evidence to suggest that the 12 weekly zoladex may result in better efficacy in the treatment of breast cancer when compared with monthly, and may be more convenient for patients. Your treatment team will be able to say why they prefer 12 weekly treatments.
Anastrozole is a hormone therapy used in the treatment of oestrogen receptor positive breast cancer and most people will take it for 5 years. Current guidelines recommend that extended therapy beyond 5 years be offered to, or considered for, postmenopausal women with oestrogen receptor positive (ER+) breast cancer depending on their risk of disease recurrence. There is some evidence to suggest that anastrozole continues to reduce the risk of breast cancer coming back for many years after you stop taking it.
