Hi Hannah,

For me the only side effect I felt in the first few days was some very, very minor bruising where they did the injection. Ask for EMLA cream to apply an hour before your appointment to numb it.

Hope it goes okay for you x

Hi Hannah

Thanks for posting.

It’s understandable you want to know when you may experience any of the possible side effects of Zoladex following your first injection, especially as this is just as the Christmas period begins.

It’s difficult to say what side effects you may have and when they will start, but many people find that side effects such as menopausal symptoms start within 2 to 4 weeks of treatment. However, you may experience some side effects earlier than this.

You might find it useful to connect with others about their experience of starting Zoladex. You can do this through our Someone Like Me service which can match you with a trained volunteer who’s had a similar experience to you. You can be in touch with your volunteer by phone or email and they can share their personal experiences to answer your questions, offer support or simply listen to how you are feeling.

You can ring the Someone Like Me team on 0800 138 6551 or email them at someone.likeme@breastcancernow.org, so they can then match you to your volunteer.

However, for a quicker response you might also wish to post in another area here on the forum such as this one on hormone therapies. This is where people affected by breast cancer or with breast health concerns can learn about other people’s experiences and share their own if they wish to.

You can read the forums without registering. If you would like to join a discussion or start your own, you can find out how to get started here.
