Zoladex and Letrozole combo

I’m pre-menopausal and am starting Zoladex and Letrozole. I’m worried about side effects. Can anyone tell me what their experience is of these? Thanks

@Caro2022  hi.

It took a couple of zoladex injections to stop my periods and put me into menopause. But I think other than that the majority of my side effects are from Letrozole.

I have quite a few side effects but I’m aware other people have none. My main issues are joint pain and flushes. At first the menopausal side effects were quite a shock . I would suggest get ready to have some hot nights. I find a cool gel pillow really helps me!

I’m two years into letrozole now (came off zoladex as I had my ovaries removed) and the joint pain has improved slightly over time.

Just make sure they give you yearly bone density scans to make sure it’s not leading to thinning of your bones.

Hope this helps xx

Please do not be frightened. I am on Letrozole for 10 years ( currently year 4 ) and took ibandronic acid for 3 . I had a bone scan two years ago it was normal and I am

mow 65 . I walk several miles a day eat sensibly and I can honestly say the only side effect is fatigue although that could be my age tbh .
I also had chemo which was grim

but doable wasn’t sick once . Didn’t lose all

my hair did cold cap . And radiotherapy was and is painless . Only side effect slight rash where breast zapped you just use cream . The fact is all these things combined have doubled survival rates for us . And I wish it were otherwise but until an actual cure is found if you are recommended to take them please listen to your consultant.
