Great news, Liz. May it continue to stay stable.
This could be the combination I’m going to have after my current chemo, so hoping when it comes, it will do a similar good job to me.

Hi Everyone, hope you are all ok today. Liz, did the Arnica help a lot with the aches and pains? (I’ve just started on Arimidex and have a really sore neck and back). I’m also getting the runs every time I eat anything so am taking Immodium after checking with the Oncology team. But if you or anybody knows anything else I can take I’d appreciate knowing (especially as I’m going on holiday on Wednesday).
Val, have a lovely time in Cornwall, I’m sure you will especially if the weather stays the same as it is today.
Take care everyone, hope to hear from you soon.
Lotsa love, Dianne x x
Great news Liz and long may it continue. It does give us all a boost when we hear good news. I gave up hunt-the-vein after 5 attempts to get blood for my pre-Pamidronate blood tests and then a few days later 3 attempts to get the vein for the IV - moved to Bondronat tablets afterwards It sounds like Belinda is still top of the class.

Evening all,
Yep, it sure sounds like Belinda is still the hunt-the-vein champion !
Val - have a lovely time in Cornwall. Never been but like others, have heard it’s beautiful.
Dianne - the arnica is my hero product! I’d used it for years for bruises/sprains etc and when I was diagnosed I asked if I could use it on bruising where they’d looked for veins and was told it was fine. Then when I have an achy back I just slap it on and it helps a lot. I get a big 1 litre bottle from QVC (yes, shopping telly I know!). I gave some to a friend who recently broke her hip and she said it was great on the hip area bruises and on her arm and shoulder muscles when she started walking again. She’s over 70.
Hope this weather continues for a good while - just the right temperature for me at low 20s. Enjoy it all!
Liz x
Hi Everyone, Liz, thanks so much for the advice on Arnica. I’m going to get some this afternoon and take it with me on hols tomorrow. I’ll definitely look at the QVC on telly to get it in future.
Had a great walk in the park this morning, isn’t this weather fab?
Well, I won’t be posting for a week or so, in the meantime please take good care of yourselves everyone.
Lotsa love, Dianne x x x
Dianne - have a wonderful holiday. finty xx
Have seen my onc today for three-monthly check - he actually used the remission word which I know some people don’t like applying to Stage 4, but it made me very happy!! Am carrying on with Arimidex and Pamidronate for the foreseeable future. He’s very pleased with my markers which are very low and have been so for months now.
However, he has said to stop the Zoladex injections now as I’ve been on them for a year and haven’t had a period for about 16 months since I first started chemo. He thinks there’s a very good chance I’m now menopausal and wants to test my hormone level in about six weeks. I have to say I’m quite nervous about stopping this as I think of it as something else to throw at the cancer. Anyone else stopped Zoladex and remained menopausal? I’m 50.
Lesley - wonderful news. You must be soooo happy! May it continue for a long, long time. As far as I’m aware the blood test will say whether you are menopausal or not. I didn’t have a period from after my first chemo and when they did my blood test I still wasn’t menopausal so on the zoladex. It’ll be 2 yrs this Sept from starting the zoladex and apparently I’ll be on it as long as it works.
Keep well, Liz x
Lesley…I like the sound of that remission word…long may it continue!!
Take care Nicky xx
Great news, Lesley, I like the word remission, too. Hey, if it can stay stable with one less drug, that would be even better!
Take care xx
Lesley
Great news that your cancer is stable.
I stopped Zoladex a year ago and haven’t had a period since, I’m 48 and I think the older you are the more likely you are to be post menopausal. Have to say I haven’t missed the jabs!

Good news Lesley
Oh what great news Lesley…I think you already know my periods returned a few months after my injections were stopped as I started my chemo?..I too was 50 and had been having the injections for 5 blooming years! I’ve had blood tests too and I’m dipping in and out of the menopause…(ridiculous…I’m 51!) have just started having periods less regularly now though. I haven’t resumed the injections as like you my markers are well into the normal range and it’s one less drug to process.
If I was still on Arimidex though I must admit I would be very reluctant to stop Zoladex, especially as you are having such great results…just from my own experience I would strongly suggest you have a few blood tests, not just one, as like I mentioned I dip in and out of the menopause and at times I’ve been very, very pre-menopausal. But it’s GREAT news. xxx
Belinda - interesting about ‘dipping’ in and out. Will remember that when they decide to do the next blood test. I hate the SEs from the zoladex and arimidex sooooooo much but it’s way better than the alternative…
Liz x
Hi Liz…yes at one time I had 2 tests about 6 weeks apart…the first test showed I was very pre-meno but just 6 weeks later I was well in the menopausal range. Have to say things have calmed down a bit now but at times my mood swings were quite something… the usual PMT x 10.
Thanks everyone for all your comments
Belinda, that’s exactly my feeling - I don’t want the Arimidex to stop working because of lack of Zoladex. I’m due another 3-monthly jab next week so will perhaps not go for that one and get tested in six weeks - if it’s borderline then I’ll ask for the Zoladex to continue
Lesley xx
Hi - I was on Arimidex and zoladex and then had my ovaries taken out - so no need for zoladex which I only had for five months - what a big needle/implant !
