Zoledronic acid and high temp

Hello,

I had my first zoledronic acid infusion yesterday and also on Ribociclib, anastrazole and currently on antibiotics for a uti too.

Today I’ve had all the expected symptoms, body aches, headache and tiredness but I also keep getting really cold. My daughter said my lips were blue. I’ve just taken more cocodamol as my pain meds were wearing off. My temp said 38.4.

I’ve put it into chat gpt and it’s told me to call 999 but I really don’t feel that bad. I’ve taken my oxygen levels with an oximeter and it’s 92. I’m warming up now my meds are kicking in and will check temp and oxygen again.

Realistically is this just side effects?

Oxygen level now gone back to 97. Temp is still a bit high at 38

They will probably tell you to go to hospital to get checked out

Remember that any paracetamol or similar pain meds will artificially lower your temperature

Thank you so much for replying. I’m sooo much better today. I just needed to know if it was normal. Typical it’s over the weekend so it’s not as easy to contact anyone. X

Thanks for your post asking about the possible cause of your high temperature and feeling cold and whether they are side effects of your medication.

Side effects of zoledronic acid can include having flu-like symptoms such as, fatigue, shivering and fever and they can last for a few days after having the infusion.

You also mention you are on ribociclib and anastrozole. Ribociclib can affect your immunity and increase your risk of getting an infection. You mention you are feeling better today. Even though you are feeling better today, we would suggest still contacting your treatment team on 24-hour contact number to let them know about your high temperature and what your oxygen levels were. As @jock says, they can assess you and see if you need treatment for an infection or need to change your antibiotics for the urinary tract infection you are being treated for.
