I’m pre-menopausal and am starting Zolidex and Letrizole. I’m worried about side effects. Can anyone tell me what their experience is of these? Thanks
I have been taking letrozole since December 2022. So far it seems ok apart from the odd bout of constipation which may be due to something else. I also have pains in my hands from time to time. I have had carpal tunnel surgery in my right hand and letrozole is said to aggravate this sometimes. From what I have read the side effects get better after a few months so I live in hope. The other issue is osteoporosis. I am taking adcal3 tablets. I don’t like these as you chew them and have to do this two hours before and after any food with fibre, nuts, broccoli or other green veggies in it. Although not a vegetarian all my food has one or other of these ingredients in it. But I can moan for England. I would far rather not have to take any medication.
MacMillan cancer and Breast Cancer now both have leaflets on letrozole. There are other Aromatase Inhibitors you can swap to apparently.
I am ok at the moment as I want to give it a fair chance before reviewing anything. I haven’t taken zoladex. I am having zeledronic acid infusions every six months for three years. It’s all so complicated - everyone has treatment tailored to the pathology of their tumour(s) and they follow NHS national guidance for best practice. Issued by NICE, the National Institute for Clinical Excellence.
