Hi Terry, I wondered if you’d heard of instances of osteonecrosis of the jaw being a risk from taking bisphosphonates? Lots of info if you google osteonecrosis jaw bisphosphonates. Because we are taking bisphosphonates for longer it’s one of the risks…albeit a rare one. I know Zometa is often mentioned with osteonecrosis …I’m now on tablets, Ibandronate, it might be worth changing although Ibandronate might be just the same risk. If your wife has any invasive dental treatment she should stop Zometa for a time before and after the treatment…most if not all UK dentists now have this info but I think you’re in Spain? Hope I haven’t worried you…I’m still taking my bisphosphonates…Best Wishes, Beinda.
Hi Beinda, Thanks for that, I know about osteonecrosis, I was wondering if they can carry on with the FEC if they stop the FEC, any ideas ?
Hi again Terry…not sure…I’ve had hormonals and I’m on my first chemo, for bone mets, Xeloda. I wonder if it would be okay to have dental work done if it’s at the end of a cycle, when your wife’s bloods are recovering, recovered? Sorry I’m not much help. Might be worth posting on Secondaries? Best Wishes to you both.
Thanks belinda, I don´t like reading what the web sites say about osteonecrosis, so I will stop reading about it !!, She does not really need dental work now as the infection was sorted with antibiotics.
Kind regards to all
Terry
