Hi Chantelle, so sorry you’ve found your self here

I was diagnosed in September with a Grade 2 BC. I would say that everyone’s journey is different even though their diagnosis is similar. The information the ladies here give you is brilliant and can definitely help🙂 DO NOT GOOGLE!!! I ended up (and still do) in a dark place and dont go routing for information on others BC profiles as again, it can be very different. Take each day at a time and each appointment at a time. The ladies here and ace at giving advice and tips!

I am still waiting on my stage also, currently waiting in the car for my CT scan so can hopefully start treatment in a few weeks! :crossed_fingers:t2:

If you have any questions pop them on here or call your breast care nurse :slightly_smiling_face:

Sending lots of hugs your way :two_hearts::two_hearts:

Thankyou for replying I’m sorry for your diagnosis too it’s so difficult, can I ask why you were given a ct? And I did the google already and it does put you in a dark place trying hard to stop but it’s just consuming my thoughts x

Google is horrendous!! So so much information is outdated and treatment for breast cancer advances so quickly!!

Im having a CT because they found some cancer in my sentinel nodes - the first little ‘dust bin’ nodes that scoops up some cancer the escapes from the primary source. So my consultant is arranging a CT just to ensure elsewhere is fine and so the proper treatment can be given to me to help beat this beast :slightly_smiling_face: some scan are done to confirm your stage.

Xx

Hi chantelle29, sorry to read about your diagnosis. I had treatment last year and doing well.
Start writing down some questions that you would like to ask at your next appointment. Take notes as you might forget all their answers. I would, if possible, take somebody with you. After my diagnosis, I saw the surgeon. In a nice way, he told me I asked the same question 3 times. My mind was in a blur.
Your treatment plan is tailored for you alone and everybody is completely different. Try to focus on one appointment at a time. Dont forget to do some nice things too. Hope treatment starts soon and all goes well for you. Let us know how it goes x

Thankyou for replying I appreciate it and I’m happy that you’re doing well! It is a lot I already feel like I have mixed up some of the information that was given to me, I am limited with people who can attend my appointments but I’ve decided I will try to either call someone or record the appointment so I can go back to it if needs be whatever the outcome I’m ready to fight!

I found a lump that felt close the the surface near my nipple that just didn’t feel right. I have dense tissue and fibrocystic lumps but this was different and didnt go away after my period like other little lumps I get. No other symptons except the small indent at the edge of my areola. My GP thought it was a cyst and told me not to worry as it was very movable but wanted to refer my to the breast clinic (thank goodness)!!

I really wish you all the best with your treatment  and you’re not alone :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: xx

Hey Chantelle, I’m sorry you find yourself here but I’m sending you a big hug. I was diagnosed at 29 last year. I’ve been through chemo, surgery and radiotherapy. Just take everything one step at a time and be kind to yourself. I found the part before starting treatment the hardest, but once there was a plan I felt more focused. Your team will look after you x

Hi Jess, Thankyou for your response do you have to have any surgery? I’m absolutely petrified about what I will be needing to have x

Hey, yeah I had to have a lumpectomy which basically removes the tumour and a small bit of healthy tissue around it, and I had to have a couple of lymph nodes in my armpit taken out to be tested for cancer cells. The surgery was actually really manageable. I imagine with children to look after it may be abit harder, have you got much help/support surrounding you? X

If you’ve been given a BCN or number for their service they might be able to go through it again with you - I think they are probably quite used to that . I have heard of people recording appointments . A lot of mine were on the phone ( lockdown) but I had my notebook with questions written down - I crossed them out as they were answered made notes re answers and more questions .

All I can say is to try and take it a day at a time . You may think we are mad suggesting that you do something nice. Many of us have found the waiting for investigations / a plan to be the worst part and if you can find something that makes you happy in the moment and gives your mind some rest and you a little joy even for a few minutes it does help. If you have a good friend or family member you can talk to who can be relied on not to tell everyone else (I would advise against that until you are sure what you’re dealing with and have a plan ) then that also helps. You could try contacting the helpline on 0808 800 6000 from 8am tomorrow - if you talk it through with the Nurses they may be able to glean a little more information from you and give back a little more information in return. If you feel that you need something to help you control your anxiety then speak to your GP . I found Yoga mindfulness and being in nature helped to an extent .

Thankyou for your reply I’m going to try go on a few mindfulness walk but I have anxiety and feel like I’m just going to cry I almost cry when I’m taking my kids to school 5 mins away in the car it’s such an emotional rollercoaster I have spoken with my nurse and she has given me as much info as she has at the moment I’m just really wanting my treatment plan so I can prepare more x

And bless you having to deal with your circumstances in lockdown I can’t even imagine how that must have been you’re clearly very strong!!! Xx

, all my immediate family are an hour away but all my in laws are very supportive thankfully they will help me through it , see, i know I shouldn’t jump the gun but I imagine I will be having a mastectomy due to the amount of lumps and size of the biggest that has been found and if this is the case I strongly feel a double will bring me the most reassurance c

Hi

I was also diagnosed at 29. Like the other ladies have said do not google!! I also found the worst bit was the waiting- waiting to find out results, waiting to hear if I needed chemo etc. Also don’t be surprised if your treatment plan changes/alters as this happened to me. Originally I was doing surgery first, then chemo but this then was changed to the other way around. I found this difficult as I’d kinda psyched myself up and I’m a bit of a control freak so like to know what’s happening!!

Do you know yet if your cancer is hormone positive or HER 2 positive as this will impact your treatment plan?

Just take everything one step at a time- one appointment, one scan, one treatment. Any questions don’t be afraid to shout!

Sending you lots of

Hi Thankyou for your response no I am awaiting all my second biopsy results as initially they didn’t suspect cancer so didn’t test for it I had an ultrasound and they told me nothing looked suspicious then they offered me a biopsy just to make sure and then a week later I was given the news of grade 2 then I had another biopsy a mammogram and ultrasound and then they confirmed I had several lumps the biggest being around 6cm. The waiting is killing me im up daily crying and have the worst anxiety it’s messing with my stomach which in turn is hurting my weight further hopefully I get an update today x

Thankyou for replying I called my nurse 6 times today but no answer fortunately she rang me back out of office hours and let me know they are under staffed which is understandable but doesn’t make my anxiety any easier I got a few of my questions answered and my letter to discuss my results which has given me a bit of relief I’ll have a look at the younger thread if I can find it not great at utilising these things x
