Anbody starting chemo in September?

Thanks Anne, Spookymoo and Sukiem for your kind words.
Well despite being a boob down am actually feel am in a better place than this time last week. The op went well and am not feeling too sore - just wiped out but that is at least giving me an excuse to laze around on the sofa while hubby and assorted family and friends tackle the kids and the chores
Mainly am just sooo glad to see the back of the tumour after months of being aware of it and worrying about it. Not looking forward to getting pathology results as know that there was alot of spread in my lymph nodes…but my ct scan was clear thank the lord.
Hope you’re all surviving the snow and ice…bbrrrrr!
sx

Lovely to read you , Sam you rest up. big hugs. am watching snow forecasts as want my last chemo to go ahead, for once!! xxxx

Seem to take so long to get over tax even though it is reduced! I feel ok now just dont want any snow .
Have just received dates for my rads, start on 20th Feb and central line out on 27th feb sounds great but worried about fact that might have trouble stopping the bleeding, as will have to stop fragmin blood thinner. They have given me an hour appointment so hopefully I will be ok.
Hope everyone is still ok
Night night

Hi all you Sapphires
Wrote a post yesterday and it vanished so hope this one will get through.
Hope your all doing well and coping with the cold weather. The hot flushes have come in handy at times just wish I could control when and where they pop up. In-shock hope your recovering well after the op and still taking things easy.
I am off for my 12th rad today so only 8 more to go. So far its not too bad just very tiring travelling to and from everyday but i’m lucky as its only 25min each way and for some people it takes hours. The aqueaous cream isn’t pleasant but hopefully doing its job as i’m not suffering burns at the moment but its early days yet. I cannot believe how many people see my breasts these days - I have gone from a shy person only getting changed in private to whipping my clothes off at the sight of a white coat!
Keep smiling and warm Sapphires spring is just around the corner and hopefully we will all be through the worst of it.
Lol

Hi Sapphires x

I had my surgery on Tuesday and back home 24 hours later after an amusing but sleepless night in hospital (I was in a bed opposite a diva of the highest order though she was v funny). I had a mastectomy with strattice and tissue expanders. I’m now lugging around 2 drains the size of baby bottles which is an experience in itself. Has anyone got any post surgery healing tips?

I’ve still not seen my scar and am a bit lopsided but otherwise feeling ok. In shock-hope you are recovering well? I’m not looking forward to path results either.

Hope everyone is ok and getting there xx

Hi Sam Good to hear you are bearing up well post op. Glad you have some help too around the house. When will you get path results? Hope you continue to rest and heal well.
Hi Sukiem Good to hear you are bearing up too after your surgery. I hope you are not in too much pain.
Dear Anne hope you are feeling better now and hope your last chemo went ok and wasn’t snowed off.
Still have my dodgy aching hip (gggrrrr!!!) bone scan had to be cancelled due to the flipping snow last week so booked in again for next week just before op. I have had my "Page 3 Topless Modelling " photos done. I don’t think I will be published across a centrefold somehow! Not a pretty sight! And all pre-op checks done and clear so looks like I am going to have the darn thing out next week. Will be glad to see the back of the blighter!
Wishing all Sapphires warmer weather, good path/scan reesults, end of chemo and drugs and easy ride on the rads front. Take care all you lovely ladies. Em x

Hi Em,
Are you having a WLE? I was out the next day (although should have been in 2 days) with drains. Its not been too painful but my BCN advised to take the painkillers anyway as apparently the bruising makes the discomfort worse after about 3 days.

Let us know how you get on and lots of xx

Yep, its a wire guided WLE with full node clearance. Fingers crossed for clear margins or I am back in for the whole thing off! Staying in overnight - I will be offered a continental breakfast in the morning - aren’t I lucky! I have been told I will have drains in for about a week but they wil discharge me with the drains in and I have to “monitor” them and report via telephone every day. All sounds like great fun (Not!). Hoping will not be as bad as I expect! Thanks for the good wishes. I hope you are feeling ok and not too bruised and battered? Did you have node clearance too?
Sending hugs x x

I’m not sure if I had a node clearance-my SNB was clear in September but my surgeon said she was double checking anyway-I guess as theoretically the tumour could have affected nodes during chemo or could have been missed first time around.
My surgeon is ultra cautious in every way which I guess is a good thing!

I have 2 drains and apparently they have to drain under 30mls over 24 hours before they can be removed. They are a pain in the butt as you have to cart them around-I have them in a shoulder bag. The docs have been ringing daily and I give them the reading on the bottle.

I’m not feeling too bad and am bandaged up so can’t see much. The biggest thing for me has been fatigue however I’m v chilled out from painkillers so not suffering too much (make sure you get morphine on the ward-v effective indeed)!!

Take care and heres to clear margins!! xx

lovely to hear from Sukie and good thinking on the shoulder bag.,bless you. you sound pretty good considering.
it seems weird to be on the other side of you, as we have done the chemo journey together.
cannot think of anything to write, but love to you all . and Em huge hugs for next week.
Anne xxxxxxxxxx

Ah thanks Anne and I hope you are doing well too xx Where are you up to now in your treatment?

Last chemo done and cut out a lot of the steroids so very grateful that havent had the awful anxiety again. rads meeting next week and start mid feb.
HAvent much else to tell you, but met a lady at a log cabin support event who gave me this -
dont say what if, say what is, and deal with today. this would be a great lesson for me, because i cant do it very well,
!!
Ax

I’m not good at it either Anne! Its so hard having no control but really we have to roll with the punches with this illness sometimes.

Hope your rads planning goes well xx

Hi there Sparkly Sapphires!
I’m off to be dissected tomorrow - just a WLE, possibly wire guided - they’ll decide in the morning. The op was postponed from last weekend 'cos they couldn’t get an anaesthetist - just as well as I’d have had trouble getting there in the snow.

I guess it’s time to pack a bag - hopefully I’ll just be in one night. Let me see… book, toothbrush, bottle of gin…

Hi Pegglass-add ear plugs to that list too!! Good luck tomorrow

I do alot of what if’s too. I got told off keep doing so but you don’t stop do you, I really wish all this would end as quickly as it started. Now I am going to worry about the rads though my onco said it would be a breeze compared to chemo. Roll on summer!

Hi all
Just a quickie to all you people who are recovering from surgery - hope your all on the mend and taking care of yourselves.
At last the snow has gone from here and the sun is shining so hope its a good sign of things to come.
Take care all you Sapphires and enjoy the rest of the weekend.
Lol

pegglass, hope you got on okay.
have had the rads planning and 3 little dot tattoos. journey took just over an hour and was pretty easy to find. have summoned up the courage to go into school today to relieve time at home. it all felt so natural, kept away from the children for this week but hope to join in next week. probably still a bit dodgy from the chemo aspect but i needed the company. the boss was pleased, because i got some jobs done for her and she has been so lovely.
Good luck Em for your surgery dont know what the date was. but lots of love,

Dear Sparkly ladies Hope you are all well and fighting fit! Well done Anne for getting back into work, I am sure you should be safe now post chemo and it will definitely help to feel normal again - the bloody cancer takes everything “normal” away so to get something back is brilliant! Dear Pegglass I hope all went well with your op and you are on the road to recovery. I hope storysofar and sukie you are doing good too. We have been on a long old dodgy road, I hope we are all starting to get off this road and can amble down a nice county lane and back to our old lives again!
I have another bone scan tomorrow. Dodgy hip is still dodgy so they are going to check it out. This can mean only one thing - a green/blue/purple arm again! I shall have to ensure I accessorise my outfit to match. Surgery awaits Friday - Wireguided WLE as per pegglass. Will be glad to get the whatsit out of me. Not looking forward to the full node clearance though. I shall try and post next week, post op and update you! in the interim hair is growing but is grey and white - gggrrrrr! No eyebrows or eyelashes though and I still have my Brazilian! But its back on my legs. How is everyone else doing?
Take care all your brave warriors . Hugs to all x Em x

Em, just tufty bits on top of my head, just a hint and eyebrows left and I have hung onto a few eyelashes, but its still week 2 of the last chemo. hate looking at wispy lady garden, im not one for the bare look!!! xxx
