Morning Rosie, Scotland is definitely on our list of places to visit - always been put off by the long car journey?, although it’s no different actually than the 5 hour trip to Cornwall!
Sadly we ate all of the soup last night- had it with some peshwari naan bread( didn’t make those!)
We have a cold day today- also some snow forecast at the weekend too?, will light my log burner too when I finish work I think!
Hope DH meets his deadlines!
My OH has been offered a different job within existing company which is more sociable hours of 8.00-5.00, hopefully it will materialise !
Have s good Thursday ladies, Spring is nearly here!???
Morning all, day off today and not planning to do too much. Will probably go for a swim and sauna, might do a little gardening as well.
im obviously a little apprehensive about tomorrow but trying not to dwell on it too much. The surgeon said it would be nothing compared to the first two operations, so hoping to recover reasonably quickly.
Lovewine i I hope the rest of your day is drier and not too stressful! Rosie I think you are seeing the surgeon today? Hope you get some ideas for a way forward from him. I don’t know about the blood test, the only time constraints I have had, as others have said, is the time for the lab to process bloods and provide results before a treatment of some kind. On the face of it, March 9th would seem to be rather a long turnaround time from 19th Feb but that could still be the reason.
hope everyone else has a good Friday
Hello Ladies,
I am not having GS this weekend he is going to his dads for the first time in about 8 months, I hope it goes well. ED’s ex is coming to London this weekend with some of her things, goodness only knows where she is going to put them in thier room. Its probably best GS does not see her ex and witness any possible crossfire, it must be very confusing for him.
Joan we will get to see th Thames barrier another time, I don’t need much excuse to get out and about with GS I really enjoy it and he is very informed about a lot of things an good company when behaving well, in fact a pleasure.
ED did brought lunch this afternoon which was nice with a glass of red, it was open so it seemed a shame not to.
Wildpurl I will be thinking of you tomorrow and wish you a speedy recovery.
Rosie I hope you have a good evening at the taverna an I hope all is well with the blood tests.
Lovewine good luck with the hair colour, I always do my own as it grows so fast and getting a colour done every 3-4 weeks is just too expensive in London a good cut every 3-4 months is managable. Shame about the drier, its such a pain when household appliances, IT gadgets and cars conk out, we are all so reliant on them.
I don’t have anything specific planned for the weekend, I have been altering some trousers for YD since ED went off to pick GS up from school, they should really be peddle pusher length but YD is only 5ft 2in so they are usually way too long and just end up looking like short trousers, not a good look.
I will hand sew them tomorrow in the daylight, I have uplighters in the living room so I cannot see to sew in the evenings these days.
Have a good weekend
Wildpurl , thinking of you today and hope you recover well?.
Rosie, there is always something to worry about isn’t there??, your ES could have done without job hunting along with a young baby and a wedding to organize, it’s very hard these days with permanent contracts as my YS discovered?, I hope something suitable turns up very soon!
I hope the surgeon rings you this morning with the results- the waiting is a dreadful reminder of the early days?, I still think you would have heard late yesterday if he wasn’t happy with the bloods?..
What are you doing today? I know you are out for Sunday lunch tomorrow?
Cassie. Hope you complete the alterations to YDs trousers, I can’t see either in the evenings if I am knitting!
Hope EDs belongings find a place and the meeting with the ex isn’t too awful, when does she start her training course?
Thinking of you Rosie, try not to worry too much??
Afternoon Ladies,
Its horrible and wet out here today so I have been catching up on some ironing today and I have finished YD’s trouser alteration, I can manage any machine sewing but not hand stitching if its not daylight, its a combination of needing reading glasses and a restful light source, that is no good for sewing.
I am not sure if I will go out today if the weather does not improve.
I have been clearing out drawers in my living room and kitchen yesterday and really need to make an effort to clear out a rather large cupboard upstairs in my hall, it has become rather a dumping ground with the girls old games and toys my christmas tree which is too large to store in the loft and rather too many coats and thick jumpers that are too large to fit in my wardrobe. I also have a childs rocking chair and several boxes of childrens books in there, I guess its easy to hoard these things when you don’t have a car to take them to the charity shop also they are expensive things to buy and I had envisaged several grandchildren, but now I am not so sure.
I will have a bash at thining it all out over the next couple of weeks and hope to get some help from one of my daughters to do it. ED might need some space for her things from Norfolk, thats another reason to crack on with it.
Morning Ladies, Cassie, we seemed to avoid the wet weather here yesterday, a good reason though for a clear out! My understairs cupboard is also a dumping ground and if I fell into it I don’t think I would be seen again!?
Rosie, enjoy your lunch out, that’s a good saving with your voucher! It will be nice to take a scenic trip out too. We may go out for a walk later- it’s still wet and muddy everywhere- there is a disused railway line on border with Northants which is a pretty walk and not too dirty, then may call in Waitrose on way back for a treat for dinner???.
Wildpurl, hope you are not too sore and recovering well?
Joan, hope you
are enjoying the weekend and have had some time to yourself!
Wildpurl, that’s great you are home and recovering well- even better you were first on the list and back in your own surroundings quickly! What a relief there is no drain too!
I had to smile at my hairdresser a few days ago when she asked what we are doing with my new , incredibly bush like hair - I expressed a desire for my pre cancer sleek bob cut- she replied it wouldn’t work on my hair now and I would resemble “Wendolin” from Wallace and Gromitt!!??

That’s great - Thankyou Rosie! I will definitely buy some !
Enjoy your lunch out too - try and put annoyance over blood tests to the back of your mind until tomorrow ???.
Wildpurl, great that your op went so smoothly and you are pleased with the results. Enjoy your recuperation. I’m on my last day of week 1 of the course so must get that done today ready for tomorrow. I found I really needed to go back over the material though. I have read through a few of the comments posted by some of the participants, I don’t know how they find the time.
Rosie, I hope you manage to enjoy your taverna lunch and put your worries about the blood tests and ESs job to the back of your mind for a few hours. It’s much tougher for young people now than I think it was for my generation when jobs were plentiful and we could choose. Hope you get information to put your mind at rest about the blood tests tomorrow.
Lovewine, I hope the weather stays fine enough for your walk. It is beautiful here, clear and cold. Sounds very good news about OHsnew job. When will he know for definite?
Cassie, it sounds like you made very productive use of a horrible wet day. I have several glory holes that really need sorting out, some filled with our stuff but quite a bit belongs to my daughters. We are lucky to have the space but it means there is little incentive to do something about it. Hope your daughters meeting with her ex isn’t too distressing for her. Good that GS will not be there, even if adults are not overtly hostile children often pick up the underlying feelings.
Ive had a busy couple of days with grandchildren on Friday and then in Stratford most of yesterday for the theatre. Normally I do a bit of shopping and then we have an early supper before heading home, which makes a lovely day but yesterday the play finished by 3.15 and it was such a miserable day, drizzly and bitterly cold so we just had a cup of tea then came back, just stopping en route to check out the new Farm Shop motorway service station near Gloucester, which has some wonderful foodstuffs to buy. Resisted temptation though, I thought once I started buying lovely things it would be hard to stop. We were all on tenterhooks as well because we were waiting to hear whether the first stage of EDs latest round of IVF (ie egg collection) had been successful (it has but a long way to go yet) and the other couple were waiting to hear from their YD whose third baby is a week overdue. Not an easy combination but overall an enjoyable day. Out to dinner this evening with friends. Not sure if we’ll do anything this afternoon. Tomorrow I’m going to attempt to video some of the Qi Gong exercises which we all have difficulty remembering when the instructor isn’t showing us what to do (and sometimes not even then!)
Rosie, great that your test results were good. But what a shame you had to have all that unnecessAry anxiety over the weekend. Once you’ve finished sorting out your house would you like to come and do mine?
very pleased with myself today, managed to video a section of our Qi Gong class. Next challenge is sending it to the rest of the class. And, oh yes, using it to practise. Trouble is the instructor will now expect us to be proficient next week!
Fell at the second step with the video, my iPad says the file is too big, so need to find out if there is a way round that. I don’t seem to have a zip facility. Anyone any ideas?
had a really idle day today following a rather challenging visit to the dentist having a back tooth extracted. The dentist had previously told me it wouldn’t be difficult but after three injections and a more senior dentist called in, an hour later I staggered out. And now that the swelling and numbness has somewhat subsided it seems that she has stitched the gum to the inside of my cheek! Fortunately I had nothing important planned for today.
Lovewine, how disappointing for your son to be let down like this. I hope he manages to find alternative accommodation soon.
Wildpurl, hope you are making a good recovery.
Morning ladies, Rosie, awful news about your pupils accident- I do hope they recover quickly - a concern though for the critically injured young person.
Hope your decluttering continues in full flow today, after my plant incident I may restrain my urges to clear out for a while !??
We are forecast heavy snow tonight, it’s still very cold!
I thought it was me!! I seem to have half of your message sandwiched between 3 exact copies of my post!!
Went to the dentist today and had the stitch removed so now much more comfortable. Thanks for all your sympathy and for the various suggestions about sending the video.
Rosie, Dreadful news about your pupils. I guess running a school you are exposed to a lot of sad experiences as things go wrong for the kids or their families as well as the wonderful times when things work out well (like winning competitions). I’m very envious of your April like weather. No socks indeed, I’m in my UGG boots. Your ‘sandwich’ post was interesting, I bet you couldn’t do that again if you tried.
Lovewine, good news about your dog. I’ve promised the instructor I won’t put it on Facebook or You tube so that’s not an option I’m afraid.
Wildpurl, I had thought about Dropbox but not sure the rest of the group will want to go to that much trouble. I’m so impressed with the Future Learn course I’ve just booked to do one onShakespeare, starting in April. It’s amazing that these courses are free. Why didn’t I know about them before you introduced me to them?
Busy few days coming up. It’s half term so taking GD to Cardiff museum tomorrow. Friday we have both of them. Saturday OH and I are booked on an Archeology Day School. Sunday hopefully a breather.
Morning ladies, Joan good to hear you have had the stitch removed- it sounded very painful?, enjoy your busy few days!
Rosie , tripping over the full dog bowl is something I know very well- usually with my socks on?, I have tried to be fairly ruthless with the culling of clothes- but I do come across things I had forgotten about and like- only to find they hang off me now and look awful?, have kept some in the hope I can fill them out again!
Hope you can get on with your clearing out with DH at golf!
Looking forward to the Shard, we were going to travel on train , but ES offered to drive down to Luton which is only less than an hour away and catch the train in from there, we are not restricted then for trains back to market harborough!
Mum and dad popping in for coffee later, off to work this morning!
Have a good day!
I’ve had my blood test DH drove as he wanted to get his exhaust checked! We are now stuck on the outskirts of town car less for a few hours!? DH knew a shortcut to a supermarket now drinking coffee surrounded by locals! They have to speK invert loud voices! DH stressing as he has to get to a bank to make a couple of payments for school.
The nurse that took my blood was the one that used to visit the Romanian lady. We had a chat about her. Apparently her mother died of the same thing at the same age. Her father had died previously and her brothers raised her. All very sad!? I asked what the test was for and she said tumour markers!?
Hope all goes well at the vets Lovewine!?
Morning ladies. Rosie, at least you enjoyed your barbecue outside in the end! We had a disastrous dinner- made jerk chicken with a ready made paste and it was so hot and spicy neither of us could eat more than a couple of mouthfuls?? we both like spicy food but this defeated us!
The dog seems ok this morning- just a bit of urgency to rush into the garden first thing!?, I think this probarly was last chemo as the pet insurance has now reached maximum limit and at £400 per session I can’t really afford to pay that sadly. I think he would have had only 3 anyway.
Rose, hope all the family catch up with you today and all is well!
I may go into the city centre as I need some lightweight jumpers and M&S have 20% off this weekend!??
Congratulations Lovewine and Rosie on being community champions. Did the symbol just appear or were you told about it first?
lovewine, I hope you dog continues to show no adverse effects from the chemo mishap. The vets anxieties really bring it home how powerful and toxic these drugs are. It’s very sad that the insurance won’t cover any more treatment but you have done your best for your dog and given him a good few extra months. I hope your retail therapy was successful. I had a similar experience with a ready made curry paste a little while ago. Adding lemon juice seems to reduce the heat a bit.
Wildpurl, your hair looks amazing and you are clearly making a very good recovery. Lovely to be able to get out and do things/mert people.
Rosie, are the latest blood tests just duplicating the ones the surgeon arranged for you, which I think you said you eventually heard were fine? Good that your MIL came out of hospital so quickly. Being able to sit outside to eat is a distant dream here, I’m sitting in front of the fire.
having an at home day today after a busy few days. Reorganised my larder this morning - and resolved to do less stocking up in future. Trip to cardiff with GD on Thursday went very well although when she said she was bored within 10 minutes of getting on the train I thought it might not. She did quite a bit of rushing from one thing to another but also spent a good time looking at others. There was also a very good family art workshop where the children were taken through an exhibition of modern paintings which used lots of different textures and colours then spent an hour creating their own pictures in the studio. GD is very keen on painting and drawing so that went well. OH and I were also encouraged to create but I don’t think the teacher was terribly impressed with our efforts. It was never my strong point at school. This next week is busy in a different way- I’m on a 2 day residential course at the Penny Brohn centre called Living Well with the impact of Cancer. It’s a course I would have liked to do earlier But didn’t feel able to. Most of the people there will probably hVe more recent experience of going through treatment or still be going through it so I’m a bit worried I might feel out of place but having learned bits and pieces about the approach I thought it was time to put it all together.
Hope you all have good weeks.
A quick good morning before the dog walk and it’s actually light now at 7.00 when I leave!
Have a good day everyone, glad you caught up with the family, at least it was a calm Skype, know the feeling my OH and YS usually do the same thing!?
Hope the injured lad improves and no doubt the other one will need counselling after such an awful experience?.
Morning ladies!
Great you are doing so well Wildpurl, when are you returning to the office? I bought some tomato seeds yesterday and also today am going to pick up some sweet pea seeds too?
?, everything is starting to come out now in the garden- will have to start catering for the needs of my hedgehog clan shortly !
Rosie, I find the dog hairs are like clumps of tumbleweed blowing around my floors??, I have ordered on Amazon a special tool which strips the undercoat of dogs and cats giving them a sleeker, Matt free coat!! Will see?, o brushed one of my cats the other day and had to wear a padded coat and gardening gloves as she turns into a wild animal when approached with the brush!
I have woken up with a sore throat and cough this morning so I think it’s round 2 of the bug I had 2 weeks ago, think I am run down with the stress of dog etc! Any tips on supplements to boost immune system please?!?
Have a good day everyone!
