Evening Girls,
Been really tired today but think its self inflicted from yesterday, apart from that all is well. Did a big shop today as I head for low immunity period tomorrow so at least I won’t starve since oh is away. Friends have threatened to leave food on the doorstep and run lol.
Kate & Sandy, hope your both ok and s/e minimal
Lori - This Ca-am Spider sounds fantastic, would love to have a go on one
Karen - so sorry about today must have been horrendous for you, make sure you have a few drinkies and enjoy the wedding
Kate - u’ll feel so much better once your head is shaved, it’s empowering
Judy - loving the portraits and the monkeys, they’re soo cute. Once you feel up to it again I’d love for you to paint our dogs
Laura - great youre doing so well
Christine - Baxters pancake toffee sauce n ice cream mmm! Enjoy
Take care angels xxx
ps Christine , I also had a horrid mouth 1st time round. Fluconazole (on prescription for oral thrush) worked a treat for me along with Cordasyl (or equivalent from chemo ward) 4 times per day
Judy / Mel - I too have to admit to a bit of wind (that’s probably putting it very politely if you were to ask my OH lol)
Karen - So sorry you had another reaction to the chemo, hope they can sort it out for your next cycle.
Judy - your paintings are fantastic, you will definitely have to do one of my cat when you are feeling up to it.
Pauline, I’ll be asking for something for the mouth ulcers and sore mouth when I see the onc on Friday,
Kate - tomorrow I’d shaving day, as I have been driven to distraction with my itchy scalp and hairloss all day. I didn’t have that much hair to start with and I can t believe the amount if hair I have lost today, it must be terrible for those of you who started ith a full head of hair.
Feeling a bit down today as my step sister who has just turned 40 has been to the breast clinic today as she has also found a lump. They have taken a biopsy to confirm that it is benign. I am hopeful that it isn’t cancer as they haven’t taken any lymph nodes for biopsy and she didn’t see a Bcn but we will have to see. I’m not sure if my mum and brother will cope with this happening again.
Take care everyone

Judy,
I just had to jump in on my way to bed and say what a talented lady you are. Your paintings are really amazing, and so life-like. Such a shame the inclination to poduce them has disappeared, but it’s only temporary. My fun hobby is photography, bird photography to be precise. Apart from half a dozen quickly taken snaps in the garden I haven’t picked my camera up since I was diagnosed. Its like I’ve lost interest, but I know I haven’t really. I really don’t know what it is. I am prefectly fit enough to take photos!

Ladies with wind - Docetaxel’s side effect is diarrhoea rather than constipation. Wind can still be a problem, but be very careful!!! Make sure it really is wind before you let rip. Sorry if this is too much information!!!
have put on photo of wig, but it cut off the top of my head. still you get the general idea

You look lovely Mel xx
Hi all
Thanks for your tip Linda -I didn’t know about the paracetamol.
Sandy - I’ll check out that website. Digging out my daughter’s sewing machine will give me something to do whilst at home. My daughter will probably help me. The scarf on your photo looks great and really suits you.
Moira - have a good time in Newcastle.
Kate - I’m glad your infusion went well and you’re feeling ok.
Karen - I’m so sorry you had such an awful time. I hope you get sorted out soon.
Judy - I’m also on day 13 and still holding onto my hair for now. Shaving it very short
seems to have helped with that as odd hairs were coming out before I shaved it. Your pictures are absolutely amazing!
Angie - It sounds like you have some amazing friends at work.
It looks like my shopping trip may have to be cancelled as my daughter has come home from drama early, feeling poorly
Sorry the writing frame went funny and wouldn’t let me finish. I meant to say postpone my shopping trip. I may well be digging the sewing machine out tomorrow instead
Fec75 day 9.
hi all. Sounds like everyone has a lovely bank holiday weekend planned. Mum is doing fantastically well. Thanks to this forum she has a chemo bag with everything in it from tea tree oil to gaviscon, but she hasn’t needed anything- yet after a seriously traumatic weekend with dad having a small stroke by Wednesday all is well. Annabandana is a fab resource - ordered mum 5 different bandana Sunday they were here by Tuesday .we ve all tried them on and had quite a chuckle and some photos of mum n 3 daughters posing together with bandanas. mum is still smiling even though her hair has started thining and a few clumps are coming out.
We re all still waiting for her to get bad side effects. I know they probably will come but gonna keep bring positive while she is doing so well. Hope everyone stays well and strong. The zinc n copper tablets and b6 have also helped mum- found out about them on here
big hugs xx Keely xx
Love the hair Mel, it suits you.bpity your daughter isn’t well but hopefully your shopping trip will happen soon.
lola laughed lots at your post…it’s 2am so that was a god thing!
my first night indigestion is here again…if this is the only SE I get again I’m fine with that!
Kim sorry to hear your step-sister is undergoing tests, hope it is benign and she gets the all clear soon.

Hi Keely,
Glad to hear our Mum is doing so well and so sorry about your Dad, such a stressful time for you all.
The chemo bag is a great idea as you have everything to hand. As much as I a dreaded losing my hair it was a relief when it was gone as my scalp got very sore and was comming out anyway. It’s good fun to play about with the scarfs etc. my daughter came wig shopping with me and she was trying on wigs too. There are so many moments through this journey that bring us all so much closer.
As your Mum has reached day 9 it’s probabably unlikely that she would have any major s/e now everyday will be better asee next cycle she knows what to expect.
Your a great inspiration and support to your Mum, hope all is well with Dad
take care xxx
lola that just made me giggle, looking forward to that then!!
keely - your’e amazing. hope you’re looking after yourself as well.
might try making a land girls turban today if i can be bothered, sometimes i just sit, dont even think, i just sort of veg out, got wig number 3 on today, might be ‘the one’ my daughter says i look like me, and i feel like me, so hopefully it wont sweat my head off!
angie xx
Morning ladies,
just been to the hairdressers where I had my head shaved and my wig trimmed and thinned, which looks so much better. i then went for a stroll around the shops and no one seemed to stare at me, so the wig has passed the test for the moment, next stage is this afternoon when one of my nieces is calling in to see me, we’ll see if she notices
Linda your post made me laugh who would of thought a few months ago that we would be discussing such things on the Internet
Keely I’m glad your mum is dong well, the chemo bag is great , hopefully she won’t have any more side effects this cycle, she just needs to keep her eye on her temperature now. Hope you are looking after yourself as well.
Mel - I’m loving your wig, I’ll post one of mine later today
Karen - I hope you feel better today after your traumatic day yesterday.

Fec-t cycle1 day 14
well here we are day 14 and still got my hair, is that a bonus? Itching has abated a little but woke up this morning with a dreadful headache much like a hangover but without the fun. No spots to speak of other than a dreaded cold sore ( not had one for years), good job I had Zovirax to hand. Booked a LGFB workshop for June, until then will have to rely on all you lovely AAA’s for tips. My SE’s have been minimal although I did have a spell in hospital on day 4 with severe chest pains, not my heart thank goodness, it was put down to a non specific infection. I’m still working away and plan to continue while I feel well enough. Work have been brilliant with me taking time off. Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine today. Keep strong and most important of all keep smiling, it takes less muscles and less energy than a frown.
Think I may have posted twice, sorry xxx
Hi AAAs - pic with my wig, still not sure about it - looks too tidy as some of you have already said. Have worn it a couple of times but gets itchy after a while…will do for a change or when none of my hats or scarves match my clothes!!
I woke this morning with a random pain in my shin, it’s been sore all day and more noticeable when walking. Def didn’t bump it or anything - should I be worried?? I didn’t get any scans to rule out any spread as only had 3 impacted nodes (apparently you need 4 in my area!!) Probably nothing but not sure what to do but will mention at chemo ward tomorrow when getting 2nd Fec.
Carolanne - glad the hair is staying, I shaved mine off around day 12 as was completely dead, what was left started to go around day 15…hope you can hold on a bit longer but lots of ladies on here have shaved themselves once it starts as it’s quite empowering and allows you to take control - something to consider, good luck
Mel - wig looks really nice
Keeley - you truly are a rock for your mum, bet you keep her going and her spirits high
Lola - had a right giggle, I’ve sailed pretty close to the wind (pardon the pun) a couple of times
Kim - well done with the shave today and sorry to hear about your step sister, hope it will be nothing to worry about!
Kate / Lori / Shona - from memory think you are all doing something special this weekend, hope you have a fabby time and hope you will be in need of the shades! 8)
take care all

ECMF cycle 1 day14
Hi Angels
i would like to make a momentous announcement- my lady garden has now dropped out, just like that not a by your leave, overnight, bizarre!!! strangely I still have hair on my legs. Now it would be useful if that dropped out, but no, doesn’t look any different, still have hair under arms, and haven’t lost much yet from head- just the one place. How strange is that! Just needed to share that with you all…
Mel xx
Hi Pauline
could you phone chemo ward and ask if it’s anything to worry about ? or the helpline- they have helped me when I’ve not been able to decide what to do about stuff.
mel x
Hi Mel
My lady garden is heading the same way but not quite as quickly as overnight…I was told at the chemo unit yesterday that many ladies complain that they lose hair in most places but not their legs so I was very disgruntled! I’m not happy with the lack of some SE’s when there are so many rubbish ones! I was told by my ONC that my periods would stop - then had one this week, what’s that about??? I think they lull us into some fibs to make us feel more okay about others that we do get!
