Hey Pauline, you look gorgeous in your wig. I have a problem with mine being a bit itchy too, have worn it with and without cap. It gets quite warm with the cap on, my friend suggested making holes in the cap to let the air in so might try that. Good luck for tomorrow.
Oh Mel, you made me laugh, such a moment isn’t it. I looked in the mirror today and thought wow the eyebrows are definately thinning, when did that happen!
take girls, sunshine gone now pouring rain xx
oh Kate, disappointed about the legs!! I haven’t seen my periods for a couple of months and here’s hoping they stay away, that would just be adding insult to injury.
Hi all,
Pauline, if you are at all worried give them a call or mention tomorrow when you are in - good luck with next cycle! Wig looks great, know what you mean about the warmth tho…I spend most of my time in head buffs and just wear it when I need to be presentable!! I had 3 out of 14 nodes affected too, but my Onc still put me through for CT, Bone and Heart scan…all clear - sure you will be fine too positive thoughts…
Kim G, Hope your Step Sister gets some good results too, worrying time for you all hang in there. Pleased you got your wig sorted I am sure you will have some relief now that you have had your hair cut, fingers crossed!
Mel, your new profile pic looks great…know what you mean about the ‘tidy look’ we are all gonna end up looking like high maintenance women with all these new do’s!!
Judy , your work is fantastic what a talent. I am sure you will feel like painting again, it is hard to concentrate on anything at the moment with all this going on, hang in there I am sure you will feel like picking up the brushes when you feel better.
Debra , hope you are continuing to improve and gettng some of this lovely sunshine!
Linda , I will try taking the paracetamol straight away after next injecton see if that relieves my pains - Thanks! I am not looking forward to the Docataxel, my friend had to be taken off it due to an allergic reaction during infusion she was supposed to have it in 3 cycles but now has been put on Paxataxcel (I think) weekly infusions for 9 weeks, she is half way through and doing ok. I have one more FEC then time will tell how I will react - fingers crossed.
Sandy, Cute scarf it really suits you. You have the same diagnosis ae me triple +. I had my surgery first 4.8cm tumor removed with clear margins then Chemo 3xFEC and 3xT. Then going onto Herceptin over 1 year and Hormone treatment for 5 years. I can recommend the Can-Am its great fun, my OH does like a blast so I am glad it has a back rest!! Very comfortable pillion. I have only had one shot in an empty car park as have no licence either so happy to be taken around…
Moira, hope you have a great time in Newcastle, fingers crossed you get your fish n chips at Tynemouth!!
Karen, so sorry to hear about your ordeal on wednesday I hope you are over the shock and recovering well, take it easy!
Mel A , hope you get that shopping trip and that your little girl is feeling much better.
Hope you are all enjoying the sunshine…I can’t believe the forecast for my trip to Edinburgh tomorrow is clouds and showers…so typical, Mum n I will just have to avoid them with coffee and lunch stops!!
Hope you all have minimal SE’s and a peaceful weekend!
Love Lori x
Mel and Pauline the wigs look great. I’m glad you got yours sorted out too Kim. I hope your sister is ok. Do ask about your leg tomorrow Pauline for your own piece of mind.
Lola and Mel you have made me chuckle. At least we can laugh amongst some of these awful SEs.
I never made it to my shopping trip today unfortunately so planned 2 in for next week before round 2 on Thursday. In the meantime I’m trying to get used to wearing different scarves around the house. Oh well off to dog training class today so at least」I’ll get out for a bit.
Hope you get some nice weather tomorrow Lori. Have a lovely day.
Mel
Exactly Mel, disappointed that the hair we want to lose doesn’t seem to be going! Maybe there is a light shining at the end of the tunnel for my periods then if yours have stopped - I was hoping it was the first SE I’d get but no luck so far! There has to be some benefit after all the stress!

FEC-T cycle 1 day 14
Pauline and Mel your wigs look fantastic, very natural looking, I would never have guessed they’re wigs.
my hair has started falling out today, not much but it’s started, I’m gonna shave it off once it really starts, I’m quite interested to see how it will look. My daughter whose 15 and my son 11 have both said they are going to shave their hair off for charity once I lose my hair, I think they have been getting sponsors at school. I’ve said I would rather they didn’t but the on the other hand I will be really proud if they do it for charity. I’ve cut my hair a lot shorter and its really helped with the itchy scalp.
Thank you so much for all the lovely comments on my paintings, I’m sure I will get the brushes out again once I get my head straight.
Mel your announcement with your lady garden made me chuckle, I’m on day 14 too so that’s one thing to look forward to.
Pauline , hope you can get an answer with regards to your shin, I hope it’s nothing to worry about, but I would mention it to the chemo ward, better safe than sorry.
Carolanne you are doing brilliantly, managing to work through chemo, my heads like cotton wool i don’t know how you do it. Hope your headache clears and you feel better.
Kim , well done for having your hair shaved, it must feel good that your taking charge.
Angie , glad you’ve settled on wig go is that the one your wearing in your photo. I’ve not bought a wig yet, I’m going to have to pull my finger out.
Keely you poor thing, what a week you’ve had, glad your dad is doing ok, and best wishes to your mum.
Lola , that’s just how I feel with the painting, hopefully when this is over we will both be able to get back to photography and painting. Your post did make me laugh, I still have the wind and I also have diarrhoea too, I very nearly got caught out at the garden centre today. i had to abandon my mum in her wheelchair and run theough the garden centre. If there had been a que at the toilets I would have been buggered! I’ve not had bran flakes or whole meal bread today as I don’t need any help in that department.
Good luck with you cycle tomorrow Pauline , hope the s/e are kept to a minimum
best wishes everyone judy xx
All
I was diagnosed with IBS a few years ago and the consultant told me to have ‘raw unprocessed bran’ as it regulates the bowels to reduce constipation or diahorea through lining the intestine walls and therefore making the muscles work in a more regular fashion therefore reducing both…might be worth trying to reduce the risk of ‘accidents’! I was told at the time to mix 2 desertspoons full in orange juice or milk and drink it (needs leaving a while and mixing constantly as you drink) - its disgusting but worked for me and now I only have to do it once in a while to reduce symptoms as they arise. I also put it in stews etc and no-one complains!
AC Cycle 2 day 2
No further symptoms over and above my indigestion at 2am this morning and hairloss…I’m feeling very lucky so far!
Angie - haven’t heard about underarm hair going or staying through chemo but I had heard it will go through rads and may never come back along with sweating under that arm…I’m living in hope for that too!

hi judy
photo is real hair, taken a few months ago, i’ll get a pic on to join the gangs photo shoot
angie xx
Kate do you get the raw bran from the supermarket or health food shop, I may have to get some as i cant imagine these side effects will be limited to just the first cycle.
Angie I would be devastated losing my hair if it looked like yours, may hairs awful anyway so it’s no great loss.
ive just finished sewing the bandana scarf from the daydream believers pattern and its turned out pretty good and was quite easy to sew. I will have to take a photo and put it on for you all to see. Andy my husband said I just need a crystal ball and I could set up on the beech front and earn a bit of money… The cheeky beggar!
Heres the scarf
hi all, and judy
this is me in my very cheap 3rd choice wig, i love it but i fear i am losing hair already, even though its not real!!

Taxotere/Carboplatin/Herceptin Cycle 2 of 6, day 3. Day 2 of Neulasta!
Been taking the paracetamols as instructed and so far no hangover/flu symptoms but feeling a bit spaced out. Managed to drive to meet up with two old friends for lunch, and a very small amount of lazy gardening later on. Taste buds gone on some foods but not all. Diarrhoea is the most irritating symptom - not so much lack of consistency, more a question of frequency! The train hasn’t arrived as yet.
Angie , you wig is great. I saw the pic on the previous page before you said it was a wig and I thought it was your own hair.
Kate - I think I prefer diarrhoea!
Hugs to all, Linda xxxxx
Evening everyone
Judy - love the new short haircut
Angie - The wig is great - very natural.
Kate - Thanks for the tip about the bran. I may give this a try as I suffer from constipation due to the painkillers I take for my arthritis. I think I will have a go at baking the ‘go cake’ in the chemo tips, see if that gets things moving!
I’m afraid I also have to join the ladygarden club although it hasn’t disappeared overnight, it is definitely on the way out. Re periods, I’ve not had one for 8 months so I won’t be happy if they start up again. There aren’t many perks to this breast cancer lark but I definitely classed no periods, and hairfree legs and armpits as perks. I have noticed that my hot flushes, or as I prefer to call them power surges seem to decreased over the last couple of weeks, knowing my luck they are just lulling me into a false sense of security and will pounce on my when I least expect them.
I have just had a betterware catalogue through the door and they have a set of 4 different plastic eyebrow stencils for £2.99, these will come in handy when the eyebrows wave goodbye in the next couple of weeks or so.
Have a good evening and hope everyone sleeps well.
Kim x
Good evening ladies,
I am day 17 cycle 1 FEC, and today my hair has been coming out in handsfull, so looks like it will be the shears tomorrow. I love the term lady garden and I can now say I have a Hollywood without the pain or expense, even better the odd whiskers on my. Chin have also gone, so enjoying those perks! I have also been onto the Annabandana site an ordered some hats and scarves, which look really nice.
i know I have mentioned it previously, but thanks to all you lovely ladies for all your help and support! I read this thread every day and through your experiences I know what to expect and all the handy hints.
thank you Philomena x
The raw unprocessed bran I use is from healthfood shop but I believe some supermarkets do sell it.
Yes Lola its pretty awful but at the time I’d had a week in hospital and numerous tests and been unable to keep anything in for about 8 months so being told I only needed to eat/drink this was a godsend so I did it and it worked!
Love the wig Angie, makes you look younger too! I think we’ll all be keeping wigs on at this rate after own hair comes back, easier to deal with and everyone looks younger! My friends 9 year old daughter saw my wig photo and said ‘okay so that’s the before where is the wig one’ so I was suitably impressed as she sees me quite often and didn’t know it was the wig!
Hope you all have a SE free night and that the sun comes out again tomorrow

Were you post menopause when diagnosed or just heading through it? I’m hoping and almost praying for periods to stop and never return…ONC says that will be the case but chemo nurse isn’t so sure!
I’ve just read the bit about the betterware catalogue, I didn’t know there was such a thing as an eyebrow stencil! I may have to find something like that as I’ve never drawn my eyebrows in all my life so I’m a bit worried about that bit - I really don’t want to look like a clown!

Hi Kate, I was just heading through the menopause, it started around August last year, my ONC told me that the chemo will put me through the menopause. fingers crossed he’s right! He says I will go on Tamaxofen for about 8 - 12 months and change to a different drug for post menopausal women for the remaining time. I’m seeing him again tomorrow so I will check about the periods.
The stencils seem like a godsend as like you I’ve never had to draw my eyebrows, and I can’t see how I will get them both looking the same! I suppose I’ve been really lucky as mine have always been a good shape and I’ve only started having them waxed in the last 12 months, up until then I only had to pluck the odd straggler. Isn’t it strange that its the little things like this the seem to worry us the most

ECMF cycle 1 day14
Hi all
pauline and Angie your wigs both look great, and Judy loving the haircut.
I have no idea how to draw my eyebrows on, or what with. I’m trying to take special note of where they are in case they drop out but seem to be ok at the moment. Think I might just move the wig further down so the fringe covers them!! Just spent a lovely evening at the pub with friends. It’s the first time I’ve felt normal since chemo started- think I’d better make the most of this week before I start again next Friday. Good luck tomorrow Pauline and sleep tight angels
Mel x
Yet another good day for mum - day 10 X she said she has slept abit today but pottered in garden in the sunshine.
