Thanks Moira, and yes, get your son to bring the ele tric shaver, it’s much easier when it’s downto the wood, no ore shedding or itching. Hope you manage to get some sleep.
im wide awake here, guess I’m getting ready for the next few nights.
Morning all’
Had a quivk wizz through but 5 days post is a lot sorry for everyone having bad side effects . I hooe it gets better asap i think it was mel who was posting about contradictory or misinformation and i know that the worst !! My mum has had some of that and it can set you back days much worse than the chemo mum seems to be able to cope with that but not cope with being messed around .
Reason i havent been on since tuesday is cos mum has been in hospital and still is her temp went up to 38 and blood tests showed hwr white blood cels were 0.0 and they should be minimum of 2.0 .After 3 days her temp is down in 36 ers and her koods are up to 0.9 so were hooing he ll be home by saturday ? Even though shes been in hospital shes still been relatively well just a really sore mouth . At least shes been resting and been in the best place if anything went wrong . I really dont thi k shes been just putting a brave face on i genuinely think shes ok with being in hospital but you never know really . Shes met some lovely people and now knows someone who is going to loog good feel better workshop when she goes so that was nice
Hope everyone has a decent weekend x take care keely xx
Judy, maybe I’ll rent out my OH to do your housework? He does seem to do whatever needs doing if I mention it…but doesn’t do it without it being mentioned so I guess I’m lucky really.
Moira, yes get your son to bring electric shaver, less stressful/risky than a wet razor! I don’t seem to be increasing my spare tyre yet…maybe that will come soon, although I’ve been given permission to do exercise now so perhaps I’ll keep about the same.
Keely, sorry to hear your mum has been in hospital, as you say best place to be to get sorted but hopefully she’ll be home soon and they will do something to stop the wbc’s going so low. Probably worth her asking for the nuelasta injections, they are given 24 hours after chemo and enhance wbc production, if she isn’t already having them.
have a good day all, good luck to the ones going for cocktails today, hope its a quick, pain and SE free time.
Kate

Godo luck for today Judy x
Morning Everyone
only managed a few hours sleep last night…could be due to all the naps I had yesterday.
Moira - I’d definitely ask your son to bring his razor with him…I shaved mine down to the wood yesterday and it feels so much better. I know what you mean about the spare tyre, I’m going to have to get a grip on my eating and start a bit of exercising. I might have to try the t-shirt turbans.
Keely so sorry to hear your mum is in hospital, by hopefully she will be home soon and they will give her so etching to increase her white blood count.
Ordered the talika expert from space nk last night, should arrive obverse the weekend.
Good luck fir today Judy

FECT cycle 2 day 2
Well so much for the super dooper anti - sickness med. I had a rough night last night , though I am feeling a bit better today. I’m watching what I eat - so far toast and a ginger biscuit and I’m sleeping a lot.
Judy - I love the scarf
Keely - I hope your mum gets better soon.xx
Mel
Hi all the best with the chemo, never easy but you do get through it…thankfully. Found this charity based alternative to wearing a wig called Heather’s Hair, which saved my sanity! I didn’t need people especailly complete strangers to look at me with pity so was able to have hair the whole way through rather than wearing a wig. Couldn’t believe how quick mine fell out on fec. Anyways hope this can be of help to others - http://heathershair.co.uk/Heathers\_Hair/Welcome.html - it’s also by donatation.
fec day 3 cycle 2 (sleepytown)
good morning awesome angels,
well i read the box that my sticky anti sick patch came in, this medication will make you sleep, do not drive etc, so i took it off. ive got plenty other stuff so i think i’d like to take a few hours alert and awake before i have to put it back on. my macmillan nurse must be psychic, half hour after i took it off she rang up to see what i was up to !! She says sleep is good, keep doing it, just potter around for a while between sleeps. so permission to kip.
im being very careful not to let the sore mouth kick in like last time but i still keep getting twinges on my tongue.
good luck judy for today, hope youre well. same to you mel - hope it goes well for you.
kim - i was up at 3 eating choc ices again, too many naps for me i think, all these midnight snacks are putting the weight on, i struggle now with my jeans and stuff, whats going on ??!!
keely - hi to mum, sorry to hear she’s been in hospital.
moira - i would ask him to bring the shaver, ive got a ladies babyliss one and its just not got the oomph i need to get down to the wood as they say.
kate - shame on you, renting your hubby out to do chores!! How much??
have a good day ladies

Fec-t cycle 2 Day 1
well I’ve just got back from my toxic cocktail number 2, everything went without a hiccup. I even managed to book tickets for my daughter to see Kasabien at the spa while I was having chemo, I just hope no one was making a note of my debit card as I read it out. Luckily the wind stayed away while I was in the chair… Thank god for that. I’ve come away with a bag of meds, I’ve had a movicol for the constripation, an Omeprazole for heartburn and a domperidone, for sickness, all these are just in case. I read through my symptoms from the first cycle and I intend to knock them all on the head before they become a problem this time. Oh and I’m gonna put my sickness bands on shortly.
some more scarfs arrived from annabandana when I got home, I can highly recommend the jersey ones. I bought another with a headband attached and one that’s just elastic sewn in at the back, that’s very comfy, and looks ok. I bought it in a cotton version as well but that doesn’t sit as well on my head, so if your gonna order any, go for the jersey, they’re comfier and they sit better. and with the head shaved down to the wood, they’re going knowhere, it’s like I have built in Velcro on my bald head, don’t ask me how that works but it just does. Moira , get your son to shave your head with the electric, you won’t regret it.
Keely , best wishes to your mum, hope she’s home soon, I think just being in hospital makes you feel poorly.
Kate , send him over, poor hubby, does he know your renting him out!
angie , I wouldn’t worry about the star weight, from what I’ve read as we get further down the line with the chemo, our sesnse of taste goes, so you don’t feel like eating much anyway, I say, make the most of it, if your hungry eat, and bugger the waistline.
Mel , so sorry your not feeling well, were you like this on day 2 last time, try and eat little and often, ginger biscuits are great when you feel sick, if it gets worse, get back in touch with the chemo uti and see if they can give you some more meds. I got some domperidone this time as well as the same tablets as last time, so I’m hoping things will be better. The cotton wool, dopey head is homing around though!
Good luck and best wishes to you all, I’ve no doubt I will be back on, in the early hours of the morning, I may do a fashion show and model my new scarfs for you all… I’m so loving the scarfs
Take care, judy xxxx
Hahahaha, I’m found myself a second job (first is get through the treatment) now haven’t I, scheduling my OH doing all your housework! No he doesn’t know I’m offering to rent him out - think its illegal isn’t it renting out boys???
Good to hear you are all slowly getting through the SE’s and getting on top of them. Judy - I was given movicol which cured the constipation but did make me a bit windy the day after so don’t use it if you need to be going anywhere the next day!
I’m off up to County Durham this weekend to see my mother-in-law who unfortunately is very very ill with pancreatic cancer, hopefully I’ll be back Monday but not sure if OH will be so your housework may need to wait a week if you are relying on him!
Have a good SE free weekend, if you can’t do that have a sleepy one as that will help you get over the SE’s quicker!
Kate
x
Kate, I’m peeing myself laughing here, I have vision of a man dressed in just a little white pinny doing my hoovering, bare bumb and all. Just blame it on the meds!!
hope your weekend goes okay, best wishes to your mother in law.
Keep laughing Judy, it helps with recovery so I’m pleased to be of service…well my OH anyway!
Fec T Cycle 2, day 8
Hey ladies, hope those of you who have been having it rough feel much better soon. I’ve divebombed a bit over last 2 days - like a zombie as mentioned previously. Nothing too bad just no energy and dont want to do anything - Angie - have taken some tips for a cozy den Guess it’s good for us to keep and mind the ‘one day at a time’ mantra!!
Kim - sorry I missed your post re Talika, I got the original and a couple of testers of the ‘expert’. I use the original on lashes and expert on brows (not sure it matters though) I still have good brows and lashes, hope it works for you x
Judy - glad today went well and wind kept at bay!
Lori - wow number 3 already!!
welcome to the new ladies and hope everyone else is doing well
Hope you all have a s/e free weekend
Pauline xx
Hi Judy, and all,
I’ve been told that the SE’s get progressively worse, but maybe not by much. My second cycle didn’t appear to be worse than the first, but it did take an extra half day to get my vitality back - which seems to be the start of getting back to normal. My chemo will change to Tax after cycle 4 so I guess that will be a whole new experience, and I doubt if they’ve given me the worst stuff first!
I had my third EC yesterday; and the day went better than last time, but I didn’t sleep and I’m now wrestling with tiredness & a digesitive system that’s making me burp very loudly, given me indigestion and the runs! Again, different to last time, but at least its not boring!
My nurses told me to use a salt mouthwash - it seemed to work really well, and I hated the taste of corsodyl! Much cheaper too.
Roz
Wow, miss a few days and so much to catch up on.
Well done to everybody who has had their second cycle and to Lori on number 3, hope your s/e won’t be too bad.
welcome to the new girls, sorry you find yourselves on here but we’re a great bunch
Keely, sorry Mum ended up in hospital hoe she feels better soon
So bloods on Monday for me in prep for cycle 3 on Tuesday, time really does pass so quickly. Race for Life on Sunday, so been out walking again today, hope it stays dry!
Take care everyone and have a great weekend xxx
EC cycle 2 day 2
Evening Angels,
Woke up this morning feeling so much better. Had no real s/es so far. No sickness at all - taken my ondansetron and single streoid. Bit of indigestion so a lansoprazole taken - and no constipation - I’ve been! When I reported yesterday to the head chemo nurse that my s/es had been so non-existant that I started feeling a bit paranoid that I’d been given coloured water instead of chemo cocktails, she thought perhaps that paranoia was caused by the steroids so she’s reduced my dose. However, the steroids certainly seen to be working for you Judy! Little white pinny indeed .
Sorry about your mum, Keely. She should have had second lot of chemo yesterday as well, I believe. Hope she’s out and about for the weekend and back on schedule asap.
Angie and Mel A, let’s hope these anti-sickness meds kick in very soon and enjoy the sleep while you can. Pauline, take it easy while you can. Are you still working from home? Think the F takes it out of you more than the EC.
Best of luck for your race for life Amber. I did it (walking) a couple of years ago with a friend who had BC herslf a few years back. It was an emotional day for all. So many doing it for friends and family still fighting or having lost the battle. And a wonderful sea of pink!
Kate, just got to say that I too have the sort of husband who can handle a hoover, washing machine, dishwasher, and iron and it’s usually before I’m even out of bed having drunk the cup of tea he’s brought me! Don’t worry though, I still treat him mean to keep him keen!
And finally, after hanging on to my hair until day 20, it’s now going very, very quickly. Think wearing the effing ferret for so long has helped rub out all the edges, back and sides so now only have proper stubble on top. In bed, I’ve been wearing one of those sweet little jersey caps with the tie at the back - but the tie at the back digs in so I turn it round to the front. While I had hair my OH was going to bed with the Ena Sharples hairnet. Now the poor man has to put up with Hilda Ogden! God, I’m showing my age here!
Kim, what’s Bubble witch. Is it good for steroid induced wakefulness. Think I might be needing something other than mahjong slide over the next few weeks!
Sleep tight ladies,
Moira xxx
Judy, A kind friend sent me this on facebook. Thought it might help you through the wee small hours - and anyone else who’s seen enough scarf tying for one night.

sorry, don’t know why it won’t come up as a proper link
good morning awesome angels
day 4 woke up seemingly on the road back to normality albeit with the loss of any mind control, i’m a space caadet today, havent got a clue what i’m doing while i’m pottering about the house but i do feel better in all the other regions! result!
i got my OH to shave the carpet pile hair left on my head with my super babyliss shaver razor and i now look like alec guinnes playing darth vader ( the bit where luke skywalker pulls his mask off) yea, georgeous haha! Not that i care, ive got my trust paddington hat on. might post a pic, get real!!
good luck amber for your walk, i take my pad hat off to you, as does my little cherub katie, shes not til 9th june.
moira - i found the bits at the backs of hats dig in too, mine are all on backwards for bed. heads get quite sore dont they.
Pauline - i can highly reccomend the den thing, it sends out a signal _go away- to all, and its just nice to be pampering oneself fo a while, although i have gone back into my own bed at night now so OH doesnt get the hang of sleeping on his own! I have discovered the jamaica ginger cake sickness prevention food, nibbling at my pleasure.
Judy - glad your day passed ok, you always look so bright and cheerful, happy hats! i think our weighing system is a bit shocking, you walk in climb on the scales and they shout and ask your weight ! Pft! not likely, i always say i cant read it without my glasses haha, 11 stone now, omg! its alltbthis cakes and junk isnt it. too much sausage sarnies.
Kate - hope your visit goes well,
Well here comes the weekend, i’m pottering and putting loads of tat on ebay today, this time next week we’ll be millionaires
have a good day girls

Fec-t cycle 2 Day 2
hello angels, well last night was very much a repeat performance of the first cycle, though I did actually end up with my head over the toilet this time, I wasn’t sick, thankfully and I had a walk round the garden to take my mind off it. Went to bed early, I think sleep is the best remedy for the first few days. I was up at 4.30 and decided to make my cosy nest up in the playroom, wish I had done that yesterday, … Trying to make up the sofa bed and put quilts and pillowcases on, when I just wanted to curl up was not such a good idea, but it was nice when I’d finally got sorted. I put the tv on, had some Omeprazole tablets for heartburn … They’re not working, and had a few hours before I fell asleep again.
I’ve still got the heartburn, but the movicol worked and I’ve been. oh I have a very red looking face today for some reason. Gonna get showered and dressed shortly then were taking the dog for a walk on the cliff tops See if I can blow the cottonwool out of my head.
Angie , your right… A just shaved head is just like darthvader when Luke pulls is mask off. Your post made me laugh today, I like your space cadet head!
moira did I get the link right, was it different half dressed men flexing there muscles in the doctors waiting room! Even if that wasn’t the right link, the video put a smile on my face this morning, and ladies if it wasn’t the right link and you want to link to the half dressed men, let me know, I still have it on YouTube. Lol!
Amber wishing you the best for your race for life, hope its a good day for you and the sun is shining, your gonna be shattered for cycle 3 but, it will help you sleep, jutake ar care x
Roz at least the gas is better coming out as a burp. Have you asked for Difflam mouthwash from the chemo unit, I’ve found that best for the mouth, if you ask them for some.
Pauline , so sorry you’ve turned into a bit of a zombie, hope you can find your get up and go.
Mel A , how’re you doing today hope the s/e are starting to lesson for you.
Mel , love your new photo
have a good weekend ladies, take care
