Anyone due to start chemo in April? - Awesom April Angels

Hi Angie , hope you feel better soon but my advise would be to get in touch with the hospital ASAP. This is how I started on my last chemo and kept ignoring it, ended up in hospital for 2 1/2 days and Just felt worse.i was advised that even if my temp wasnt up go by how you are feeling. Best of luck xx

Angie keep taking your temperature if it is still 37.5 ring the medical people, it’s really important otherwise you may become really ill. Take care

kim

On the up side Rod Stewart tickets arrived! oh and i have exciting trip to hospital for line flush later! I’m sure I used to have a life…
love mel x

Hi and thanks to you all for your welcome. I managed to find my way back but I will try the bookmark thing thank you for the tips.
Happy belated Birthday Angie.
If you are feeling unwell get in touch with the medical people, I did not and ended up in hospital for 9 days on antibiotics, which was terrible as I felt fine from the 2nd day, they would not let me home as I had no neutrofils (white blood count) and my CRP’s (inflamitory levels) were over 100. Neutrofils need to be over 1 and CRP’s 5 before they let you out. I dont think I would have been in so long had I gone in on the Sunday when I was first unwell.
I was not on yesterday as I was at the hospital with my Mum she is 78 an she has also just been diagnosed with Breast Cancer lucky white heather, she has to get wide local excision and node biopsy 10th July hopfully she will not need chemo.
Got my 3rd FEC at 12.30 today geting the injection again this tiime to bring my count back up. Hope all goes well.
PS ive put a stone on since January, so I think I will be joining you in the shot putt team. LOL Lynn x

Hi everyone, I had my third fec on Monday and am slowly getting there I feel really achy round my neck and shoulders, think I will take some nurofen! I spent an hour in the park with my daughter who is 2 this morning and it was so lovely to be outside watching her enjoy herself! Simple things eh! Hope your all dong ok x

FEC 3 day 12
Evening ladies and welcome Lynn,
Hope you are all well and particularly Angie that your temp is back to normal! And you are feeling better.
Well today I finally feel like myself again, I’ve really missed me! It has been such a beautiful day here in Norwich, I actually walked into the city. It took twice as long as usual and i had to sit on the bench in the Cathedral grounds, but it was really lovely. My aunt and cousin treated me to an amazing Thai lunch then went to Biddies tea shop and lay on the chaise longe, how decadent. I am now sat at home watching the OH construct my new swing bench, he’s been there hours…but decided that I needed one of these for when I have my bad days and can then lay in the sunshine. We’re of to our caravan in Waxham tomorrow and will hopefully brown the top of my headwhich is so white it is blinding.
Hope you all have a good weekend xx

Evening Angels,
well total change of plan today due to our wonderful weather! Had to come home early from the caravan as the frost bite was really getting to me, and watched my lovely swinging bench swing without me in the freezing wind. Now sat at home thigh the heating back on and hoping someone will turn the sun back on.
enjoy your weekend ladies, regardless s of this weather xx

Morning Angels,
I’ts Lori and Pauline who have nicked the sun. I got it wrong it was the Yorkshire Dales we went to and what a lovely time. Started at Grassington, then Ingleton then accross to Windermere and then back to Hawes. Three days ago at half ten in the morning OH and I hired a boat on Windermere. Temp 19 degrees wearing little top and bombats we set off with OH at the tiller. Lovely. When I got in the bloke suggested I stay in the middle. A little while later and moving lots of times for OH to take my picture against a wonderful backdrop, I noticed that everytime i did OH got paler and paler. When asked what was the matter he replied “sit still or were going to capsize”. Charming! Looks like it’s only me then that hadn’t realised i’m a shotputter now too. I had three more Full English breakfasts with fried bread and evening meals after that to commiserate. Te He. Back to Lincolnshire and the heatings back on and what I thought was a developing tan has now turned to a red spotty rash. Now i know why we have to cover up.
Lori & Pauline - Hope your feeling better. xx
Debra - The chemo suite is the pitts for me too.
Spudgirl - You made me laugh. I have visions of your garden in a balding Saw3 movie.
Moria - Your bold print. Hilarious. Thats something i’d do on day 2 of a cycle.
Lynn - Welcome. Sorry to hear that your mum has been dx too. Lots of love and support to you both. x
Kim - Thanks. I too have a white head that needs colour will try the Summer Glow.
Angie - You sound as if you’ve had a rough time with the sickness again. Hope it stays away.
Bloods tomorrow and last Fec on Tuesday. Off we go again.
Hope your all good. Philomena and all heading away hope you find the sun and take it easy. Lv n Hugs. Sandy.

Morning Angels - sorry for deserting you for a few days but the gorgeous weather lured me away! Bit grey at the moment up here but thnk the sun will be back this afternoon 8) I had my baldy out for a while this week so now have a nice glow! Amber / Lori - thanks for Insurance tips, will probably go to canaries as it will be end sept / October so weather will still be good there
Sorry I missed the birthday girls - very belated best wishes x

Hope everyone is feeling well & good luck to those having ‘cocktails’ this week
Pauline xx

Hello all,
A bit tardy in joining the forum but started my chemo in April and would love to be in touch with you other April Angels. I’m 44, had a lumpectomy in March with clear nodes but apparently extensive Lymphovascular invasion (anyone else in this situation?). My surgeon suggested I should therefore consider mastectomy after chemo to reduce risk of local recurrence but my oncologist thinks chemo and radio is the way to go… I have just had my 3rd FEC chemo last Thursday. It’s up and down as I’m sure you all know, but to know we are in a similar boat and to share helpful tips plus a bit of humour feels very uplifting. Carol x

Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone. I’ve had a lovely weekend. On Friday we had a lovely afternoon at the park and in the evening we went for an italian meal. Yesterday we had tea outside with my brothers family at my mum’s house, the the pictures later. It’s been so nice getting out after feeling so rough for most of the last cycle.
Angie I’m so glad you’re feeling better now. I’ve just realised that I never answered your question about the Physio. She’s done some deep tissue massages around the affected areas and given me some good advice about making the exercises more manageable during chemo bad days i.e. 1 of each exercise every hour ratjer than a few several times a day.
Sorry to hear about your mum Lynn.
Philomena good luck on Tuesday.
Just to let you know that there is a page on facebook for younger ladies with breast cancer, which covers issues specific to that agegroup e.g. younger families, early menopause etc. It’s called the Younger Breast Cancer Network and its a secret group, which is hidden from your other facebook friends. There is more information about it on the youngerwomen forum on this site. It turns out it was set up 3 years ago by a girl I went to school with. Small world eh?

Evening girls,
Been a gorgeous weekend up here, the bald heads been out again. Ive enjoyed my extra week of freedom and even tasting my wine again! Bloods tomorrow so all going well Tax number 1 on Tuesday. Meant to say if any of you who had your lymph nodes removed have any swelling, I’ve discovered Debenhams do a back smoothing bra which is great for any bulges.
Lori - hope you’re ok and past the worst, any tips?
Lyn - hope all went well on Friday and s/e are not too bad
Philomena- sorry to here you had to come back, you’ll have to move to Scotland it’s been glorious all weekend. How’s the swing?
Angie - glad youre feeling better
Primrosehill - sounds like you had a fab time, good luck with last Fec on Tuesday
Pauline - Tenerife here you come !
Fleurgirl, Barb and any others suffering hope s/e are not too bad.
Think I should have another glass of vino, have a nice evening
Xx

hi girls,
ive changed my pic, its now my lovely daughter kate in the pink angiepops tshirt and her friend nadine, just out of hospital with lymphoma, doing the race for life today in Nottingham, they raised £500 and £300. Well done girls, just amazing !!
Im feeling pretty much normal except for my teeth - that dentist poked around so much i think he’s damaged my gums so i have constant aches and last night i had to get up and take painkillers, I’m not best pleased i can tell you! How are you supposed to chew then? Never mind the sugar damage, he was a butcher!
Amber - I’m glad you’ve got some swelling, i thought i had something wrong, is it like a little pouch? i’m going to check these bras out, they sound like just what i need. So tax number 1 on the way, hope it goes well.
Phil - sorry to hear you’re a victim of the weather, scotland sure does toughen you up though, we cant cope with that southern heat anymore. Picturing the swing…
Sandy - Another globetrotter! sounds nice, good luck on tuesday, half way there?
barb - hope youre getting well rested.
Mel A - that sounds abit rough? i think thats why i havent said anything but i might have to stop being a wimp! Happy belated birthday x
Caz p - hi, welcome to the gang
Pauline - how do you need to go to the canaries with all this scorchio sun in scotland? Ive been roasting!
Ive been quite hot at work in my short furry hair, and its quite sort of slippy on my head, so is anyone else getting the heat problem that i think ive had - i am smelling vinegar all the time, and i keep asking if anyone else can smell it but they say no, so i dont know if ive got a dodgy nose or are people just being kind? Anyone else had the same problem? Its having a dip tonight, in baby bath, as am I
angie xx

Mel A - I meant the physio sounds rough x

Hi Carol. Like the rest of us on here. Its an ill wind that brings us all together but what a lovely bunch we are. Lots of support and virtual love and hugs to go round. Welcome.
I havn’t had surgery yet (having chemo first ) and im sure the other angels in the same boat will be along to help you soon. Do you know what receptors your cancer feeds from. It is a big decision so I would investigate all the fors and against. If my tumor was Er+ Pr+ and Her2+ (which it is) my choice would be mastectomy to reduce the chance of any reoccurance but thats just me. Lv & Hugs. Sandy x

Hi all,
Pauline sounds like a plan with the holiday destination for the weather. My in-laws are in Tenerife this week and next and said weather geat. Good luck with insurance.
Amber might have a look at those bras next time in Debenhams. I am still using my M&S sports bras for same reason so worth a look - thanks. Dont really have any tips on Tax except to say make sure you have some decent pain relief just in case of bone pain. Still have the horrid mouth cant stand milk in tea just now and ice cream, chocolate etc leaves funny aftertatse…trying just to cut down on dairy products for now.
Carol welcome to the group!
Angie congratations to your daughter and friend on their run…great picture! Can’t say I have smelt the vinigar - hope that goes away??
Is everyone still wearing wigs? I am having a real problem wearing mine with heat its very itchy and I am constantly adjusting it. I bought a cotton liner cap but I am wearing more scarfs and little hats at moment. I also struggle with the fact that whoever knows me knows i have no hair so why am i pretending…maybe my head is not in right place for now - sorry for whinging!!
I certainly dont have any sunshine this morning although we have been lucky with it. Went to Whitby on Sat and out on Can-am down to Tynemouth on Sun.
Hope you all have a good start to the week and best of luck to all those about to start on Tax.
Love Lori xx
